Things that frustrate us all

When someone calls you with a masked number, so you pick up just in case it was something important and turns out it isn't, it's just stupid!!! When people call you for whatever reason and you tell them that you're not interested and they keep talking, so you just put the phone down and they just keep talking until they realize that you're no longer listening. I hope they find that frustrating!!!

Latest frustration: Credit cards that still have those raised numbers.

Nobody uses those kaCHUNK-kaCHUNK card readers anymore, so why the hell do cards have this?

German hotels have bagels. At least the ones we stayed in.

I was shocked when it arrived but my most recent card didn't have embossed numbers on just printed.

Now if we could only get rid of that magnetic strip on cards, so insecure. But I guess whilst places like the UK adopted Chip and PIN something like 13 years ago we have to wait for other countries to catch up.

A few years ago, P.F. Chang's went back to the manual credit card imprinters, aka "knuckle buster," to prevent potential fraud from hacking while they investigated a possible breach. Those things are also useful for a business to have on hand if there is power failure or equipment failure, but otherwise they are still in a position to sell stuff.

And I know of one mom and pop business that still uses it purely out of nostalgia! The customer gets an old-school receipt as a keepsake, even though the card is actually charged electronically.

When the kids betray your personal habits by telling everyone in shop that you buy alcohol everyday and should buy something healthy instead!

When things stop working at the very worst moment! Like when the power goes out for a few minutes at the moment when something interesting is said on TV, like a change in a law that concerns you for example.

Tonsil stones. My sister and I are the only ones in our family who get them, probably because we both have sinus problems. They are so goddamn annoying, and sometimes even painful. I have one right now that just will not budge. It's only the size of a pea but it feels like there's a peach pit in my tonsils.

It's maddening.

I've never heard of that before. I hope it goes away soon.

When people give you a big piece of cake and it's mealy, too sweet and all in all not very good... so you have to spend half an hour finding all sorts of pretexts to delay eating another morsel of it until some kind soul finally takes it away!!!

REEEEEEALLY long threads and slow mouse wheels.

On the other hand, I hate forum threads that only have like 5 replied per page and I'm constantly needing to go to a new page.

I’m sure that the person who either a) sacrificed their own time and energy to make the cake or b) bought the cake with their own money to selflessly share with others, was only trying their best. Sorry it didn’t measure up to your standards.

I am so frustrated with Comcast. When my dad died they decided to switch the account over to my mom's name and it reset everything (I am her tech support). I was trying to re set up NoMoRobo which is a service that helps block robocalls. To set it up, I have to be able to access the settings for the home phone on the Comcast website. I've been trying for 3 hours using 3 different browsers on 2 different devices. The settings button disappears before I can click it and doesn't do anything. Even when I googled the direct url to access the settings it doesn't do anything. I've chatted with them and they don't know what the problem is.
I even downloaded their app and the settings section is grayed out and won't work! I may be bald tomorrow if I tear any more hair out.

I went through something similar with my mom's service just this weekend. She asked to have my dad's name taken off of her account, so of course they had to set up a new one, which then caused several hours on the phone with them and two days without service. :tantrum:

I obviously don't measure up to yours.

Just as an FYI: You don't know what 's my past with these persons and what services I did for them. If I judged people as harshly as you do base on so little information...

That is true; I only know what you wrote above. Although I am admittedly curious about how the services you performed are relevant to the story about the cake, you are obviously not required to share anything you don't want to.
