Things that frustrate us all

Google used tire sales in your area. I have an 11 year old Honda Odyssey and I needed two winter tires, because two were still good. I went to the used tire place and they actually had matching snow tires (exact same manufacturer, size & style) so I lucked out. They were only two years old, and had plenty of use left. I didn't want to buy new ones, I'm trading the Odyssey in for a newer car/minivan in the spring.
That's a good idea, thank for the suggestion! I think I should start thinking about getting a new car as well.

Never worked in retail have we.

I work in retail and quite often the stock a store receives is based on what it sold last year at the same time, so if it sold out they'll get more if they had stock left over they'll likely get less this year. Of course other factors can come into effect is the store trading up or down on last year, has new competition opened or closed recently etc.. New houses built in the stores catchment area.

But I can see it now, come the 1st December it'll be do you have any Advent Calendars left?, Easter Sunday do you have any Easter Eggs left?

Not to mention the lead time on Halloween Orders to the suppliers and manufactures, no doubt most retailers placed orders for Halloween stock towards the beginning of the year, it's the same with Easter and Christmas stock orders placed to suppliers etc.. months and months before the event,

I just expect to be able to buy something in the days preceding an event.

If I lose a glove in February, I'd like to be able to go to the store and buy a new pair of gloves. But no, all the winter wear has been replaced with spring wear already.

It would be nice if maybe we could stock just a few hats, scarves, and pairs of gloves when it's still -20 out.

Why is it... in movies like The Matrix, the protagonists strap on a huge number of sidearms, rather than just a few and a bunch of magazines to reload them? I understand the "dramatic effect" but it doesn't make much sense. Unless all that rapid firing is supposed to overheat the barrels and make the guns useless...

personally, I'd much prefer a one-and-a-half hander (aka bastard sword) myself. Trouble is that evildoers nowadays don't wear any.
Nevertheless I have one hanging in my staircase (sword, not criminal ;) )
Halloween, or orange Christmas, as a two year old once called it.
I love that! Kids have such a way to hit the bull's eye =)
They offered me to buy new tires from them but they costs the same as the price I payed for the car and I don't really feel like paying more money for this old car.
understandable, and that advice avout the used tyre sale is very good, but please mind that you get ones with a deep profile. I'd hate seeing your family spending the money you saved on tyres on your funeral.

My argh of the day: my camera broke and there's the most splendid sunset you can imagine! thick grey clouds with their bellies painted in an intense pumpkin-orange and below them a stripe of the most brillantly turquise sky I've ever seen.

Your camera "broke"? I thought such a phrase went the way of old 35mm mechanical cameras! Everything is digital now... what's to break? :vulcan:

with 2 of my late digital cameras the battery compartment lid broke, one (unfortunately the best one) had the frame that holds the lense broken (that one was obviousely done deliberately by the manufacturer as hundreds of users complained about the same prob) and one got run over by a truck. My latest one has a IT problem: it doesn't recognize the (perfectly allright) memory card. I suspect a defect clamp in the card socket or a software flaw.
I do own a mechanically one made in 1962 and it works flawlessly :) Unfortunately, I have no film roll at hand.
I also have one from 1890 something but it's difficult to get the required gelatine-coated glass sheets nowadays. I make a set myself, every few years, but it requires a lot of lab work and some ingredients are poisonous.

I had the memory card problem on my first digital camera. I don't know if it will help but I took the card out and blew into the slot and It started working.

^correct; it was the camera. I had put it on the roof of my car while loading my equipment. And then I forgot to take it off. Miraculousely, it stayed on the roof for the next 3 miles down a serpentine road. Only when I remembered the camera and pulled up it shot off the roof and onto the road. Before I could rescue it, a huge truck hit it. I could salvage the memory card from the wreckage but the rest couldn't be resuscitated: the sensor was smashed.

That was the first thing I tried but apparently the problem lies deeper (propably even literally). I suspect that one of the little contact clamps in the card slot got bent out of shape. I could try and replace the whole slot as it's a standard part used in every computer but as I was never 100% content with that camera's performance I'll rather buy a new and better one. I might perhaps occasionally repair this one and keep it for emergencies.

Yeah, my right big toe is quite badly infected.

It's been mostly dead for a couple of years but in the last few months...

Don't read below if you have a weak stomach...

Seriously, last chance...
...I've had a bit of an open wound on the bottom of my toe and the skin around it was hard and peeling.

My toe has been numb for years, but the dried, cracked skin only started happening several months ago. The open crater on the bottom of my toe showed up right around the time of my dad's Celebration of Life.

Right now my toe is about twice its normal width, purplish, yellowish, and draining smelly fluid/puss.

Yeah, sorry you clicked the spoiler tag?

Don't you think it's about time that you see a doctor about that?

Getting hit in the rear passenger door when one's car is just shy of it's first birthday.

At least the lady who hit me was nice.

I live in a collective with three other women. One of the women moved in the other week and is newly separated from her husband. Her seven year old daughter comes to live with her during the weekends. I'm constantly reminded of the fact that I'm not that fond of kids.
