Things that frustrate us all

^ Near as I can figure, this is all because the international terminal (Terminal 5) is so far from the rest of the airport. WHY this is so, I have no idea. :confused:

ROTF - this Murphy strain is really though! This morning, the electrician had one glance at my oven and declared he couldn't get a spare part. Ikea's customer service tech said he'd gladly supply him with one but he's still not willing, so the complete job goes to Ikea.
I'm curious what Murphy has in store for me tomorrow :D

My parents' blackout lasted till the late afternoon yesterday. Turned out it was caused by a car crashing into a distribution box in the parallel street and it took 6 hours to clear the debris and install the new box. For safety reasons they had to cut the electricity in the whole quarter during the repairs which is why my parents were suddenly without electricity, too, though their house is attached to a different distributor.
The guy who caused the accident is unhurt but his car is pretty badly damaged and the d-box was almost pulverized. There's an impressive pic in the local newspaper: https://www.mittelbayerische.de/imgserver/_thumbnails/images/34/4424300/4424343/779x467.jpg
It's a left turn and by the looks of it he drove straight ahead, scraping along the garden wall. Still, it was a case of great luck: had this happened at the next curve, 3 houses further down the road, he'd hit a garden with only a wire fence and surely have broken through. And that family has little kids who were out playing at that time. One doesn't dare imagine what could have happened. :eek:

I'm glad everyone is okay and your parents' power was restored relatively quickly.

People need to pay far more attention while driving.

And yet, they're installing more and more features into cars that make drivers think they can pay LESS attention. :brickwall:
 
indeed. I vividly recall the case of an elderly man who drove off a bridge when his SatNav told him right at the summit to turn right… He survived. His car didn't.
The prob is that people switch their brains off the instant they switch the nav on. They don't realize that every software is only as good as two humans: the user and the programmer.

a bit off-topic: my dad and I once drove through Austria, always in the opposite direction as the nav told us to. The funniest roadtrip we've ever made, and we discovered a lot of pretty villages, excellent cafes, a farmer who sells delicious homemade apricot jam and a museum of false perceptions =) We've decided to do that again, occasionally.
 
Good points, all. It's also utterly frustrating to refrain from telling people they are making a mistake and just stand by watching them make their own experiences. While on an intellectual level I understand perfectly well that in order to build up character and a sense of your own abilities (and disabilities) sometimes you must encounter a negative experience, I still find it painful and a big strain on my self-control to not interfere (knowing the painful outcome from own negative experience).
 
When you're in a hurry, there's a long waiting line at the ATM and the person standing there doesn't seem to know what they want...

I can't remember the last time I used an ATM, if I need a bit of cash, I'll ask for cashback when at a person-till.

I presently live in the French countryside, where life is still simpler and calmer than in the big cities.
 
Explaining something and no one getting it because you can't properly articulate it to where everyone understands. I have concepts swimming around in my head that are clear as a bell, well-thought out, and complex. Unfortunately, somewhere between my brain and my mouth they become convoluted, incomplete, or hard to understand. That frustrates me more than almost anything else.

That seems like it would be nice, though it's hard to turn some concepts into usable data for a flowchart, because I don't really have names for what they are.
