Things that frustrate us all

Brand new can of shave gel, but whatever is supposed to propel the gel out when you push the button... doesn't. :scream:

Worst part is, it's not even my usual brand, I just bought this one because it was on sale and really cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. :(

I've had that happen a bunch of times in recent years. Seems like more with spray paint than anything. I will say that the stores I've dealt with have been very good about it. I've been able to make an exchange with no problems. If they are out of stock, they have cheerfully refunded the purchase price or given store credit in instances where my purchase slip wasn't handy. That goes for Walmart, hardware stores, grocery stores, etc. That takes the frustration away. :)

I second that, Kor! While imo it's totally ok (and even interesting) to have different opinions, an adult ought to be able to phrase this difference politely. What pisses me really badly is that there are people who just bitch at others merely because they happen to be frustrated. I mean, hullo! - that's what this thread is there for! If you have a bad day, tell us and get a few hugs!

Speaking of hugs: thanks to you all for the congrats :) It is very much appreciated and really made my day =) Yesterday I asked for my additional day off and - what a coincidence! :D - today a secretary asked which of 3 possible dates would be convenient to me for receiving my 25 years certificate from the bosses. Classical case of sudden regain of memory

Today's argh moment is rather harmless (but the day is still young...) : I put on a white tee and managed to stain it badly within the first 10 minutes at work. Why does that sort of thing never happen when you wear something old and shabby?

White clothing seems to be a magnet for dirt/stains far more than all the other colours (combined). ;)

You can say that aloud! There are coloured things you've washed a gazillion times and they never bled. Accidentially wash them with white laundry only once and you'll end up with all your unmentionables being baby-pink (or even worse: pee-yellow) for the next 6 months...

Flies. They come in, through the open window, from where that lovely summer air drifts gently in, and they don’t fuck off. Their incessant high pitched twatting buzz.

I’d happily blast the house with raid, were it not for my asthmatic loved ones.

It always rains when you're eating outside. No matter how blue is the sky, as soon as you get the food out of the car and on a sheet on the grass, clouds start to gather and pretty soon water starts to drop!

No screens?

I guess all my clothes are colorfast, because I've never had a problem with dye bleeding onto white items. Anyhow, I don't believe in segregating my laundry. I just throw the white things and the colored things into one big washload and let the clothes sort it out for themselves. :)

how about flower boxes in front of the windows? Flies hate basil and rather a lot of other herbs. (they do love peppermint, though).

ROTF! I just got another call from the secretary: the 25 years job anniversary celebration got postponed to Sept 13th. Since around that date there'll be an important international meeting (date not yet fixed but I bet it'll be Sept 13th) the odds are that it'll have to get postponed again. Propably till Christmas LOL.

Argh of the day: I get a 350 Euro gratification for the jubilee. And since it gets fully taxed, insuranced etc I'll receive a total of 167,74 € cash. (Still, that's 1/3 of what the crown cost that I got 2 weeks ago, so better than nothing).

I'll be celebrating my 24th year with my company in September, where does the time go. On the bright side for you perhaps is that the 13th September is a Thursday not a Friday.

Indeed. It'll be 27 for me. There's been a few changes in that time.

I’m in my second longest post, at just turned four years. The longest was eight years, and in between I’ve had a lot of corporate non jobs. Would love to have worked in the same place for most of my career.

Today’s gripe, people that don’t know anything about your particularly sensitive complex problem, but offer considerable unsolicited advice nonetheless. And they're too well meaning and affable, and you’re too polite to stop them, with a firm flat hand gesture, and say ‘Fuck off! How thick do you think I am to have not considered the seemingly bleeding obvious at least once over the course of the last six years? If it was that simple, this conversation wouldn’t be happening!’

Oddly enough the most enjoyable job in the almost 24 years I've been with my employer was when I was a field employee and went to different locations each week/day.

Going to different loactions sounds like fun =) I very much enjoy driving out into the country to sample the streams and rivers in my district. It's so versatile: from mountain tops to flatlands, from huge forests to agricultural deserts (maize wherever you look...), from streams so clean you can drink the water to heavily polluted stinking trenches, from tiny trickles to the 300 m wide Danube. When I set out in the mornings, I never know what expects me out there. (Picture me as a cross between Data and Indiana Jones :D) If only the paperwork wasn't getting worse all the time. I must write 6 expertises till tomorrow noon.

Butters, I know that feeling. It's so hard to stay outwardly polite in such unnerving situations while on the insde one is close to a rolling boil. In such cases I grind my teeth and tell them that their consideration is indeed appreciated but that being familiar with that problem I already explored the more obvious solutions. However, they'd be very welcome to let me know if they happen to learn about any brandnew scientific developments that might have escaped my attention. (And then I go and have a chocolate orgy - strictly forbidden by my doc but urgently required by my nerves..)

Just a minor complaint today: bitchy people. I have a colleague who is always desperate to find something she can bitch, nag and complain about and on top of it all she's incredibly rude to everyone. I'm sooo tempted to dust her chair with itching powder (or maybe better her waders?)

Forms to fill in. Having forms to fill in. The paperless world is improving things, but a form is a form.

When it comes to personal information, i swing irrationally between ‘how dare you ask this personal information’ to ‘I already filled out a form like this ten years ago for another company, can you not use that?’

^indeed. Years ago I measured the forms I have to fill out per sampling. The paper area I have to fill in is 2.5 times the size of the actual expanse of river bed I sample.
I work in the water almost all day but I'll die drowning in forms.
...when your boss tells you one thing and then turns around and tells one of the people you manage the exact opposite.
Oh yes! Daily occurance with my boss. That was what yesterday's row with the bitchy colleague was about. He told her one thing in the morning and the opposite to me in the afternoon when she was gone. When I informed her of his afternoon-decision the next morning, she almost chewed my ears off instead of talking it out with him.
