Things that frustrate us all

I got called a homophobic slur over the phone yesterday by a customer who didn't like the tone of my voice.
I once had a manager at my store who would do that.

She was black AND gay, and ruthlessly exploited both to the fullest extent.

If you did or said anything she didn’t like, or wouldn’t stay late after your shift, BOOM! You were instantly racist and/or homophobic.

Needless to say, once our store director caught on, she was outta there like shit through a goose.

Still was obnoxious to deal with while it lasted, though.

I have also had customers call me racist because I told them to get out of our parking lot with their stupid petitions. I said that they should go back inside and talk to all of my black coworkers, and my black supervisor, AND my black store director, and fucking ask THEM how racist I am.

They threw a bottle at me and left.

You might need to reread DarrenTR1970's post, because that doesn't sound like the same thing at all. He said he was called a homophobic slur, not was accused of being homophobic.

Sorry you have to deal with idiots like that. :(

McDonald's was so far behind filling the drive-thru orders that they told everyone to wait in the parking lot, and it wasn't much of a parking lot, more like a really thin strip. That created a logjam. The number of large trucks that had gone through the drive-thru didn't help.

Someone stole my truck's driver side mirror. Some hooded guy came up at night, in the ONE spot that is somewhat of a blindspot, and took it.

Barely any glass on the ground near the bushes... so tiny, I didn't see anything until the sun's reflection hit those tiny shards.

So now I'll have to get a new mirror at the dealership. Probably end up costing $300. (I have no idea if the motor part for the mirror is damaged or not, so that has to get checked out.)

In regards to key cards woes we have to use with our laundry room them to put money on it - you have to get in with a key card to do it which used to just be a code where you press buttons. This thing is just a black plastic thing with no clear way to use it. I just waved it around it and got in by sheer luck. I put extra money on it in case it happens again. I have been here so long I remember when we used to use quarters instead of cards with money on them. I rather go back to getting quarters at the bank or a supermarket checkout, lol. :angryrazz:

If this happens again, I will just send my laundry to be done it that place has very reasonable prices and well mannered.

That sucks big time.

Rock Auto or Amazon might have it. If you have a Ford I always use Ford Parts Giant first, before the local dealer. For GM it looks like you could go to GM Parts Giant. Those are usually less expensive than the local dealer, even for OEM parts.

I have a 2024 Chevy Silverado. I would try to just get a mirror myself, but I also don't know if the motor piece behind the mirror was damaged. (The thing that allows me to adjust the mirror from inside.)

Plus, I have never put on a side mirror... nothing like this has ever happened before.

The other thing I have to consider is cops would give a ticket for broken/missing side mirrors, so I don't really have the luxury of waiting too long for a part to arrive.

I do appreciate the suggestions and thank you for the input.

In California it would be a fix-it ticket. No fine, just repair and show it to a cop and get it signed off.

2023 Silverado passenger side, 2024 driver side shouldn't be too different.

. . . I hate the laundry room key cards we now have (referencing the other poster). I wish we still could just have the punch in number code but no... It very hard to swipe, there is really no clear way to swipe it. It's just some black plastic thing. Last time I lucked out and just waved it around and it worked this time.
My apartment building's laundry room has a regular lock that you open with a regular key. But most of the time it's left unlocked anyway. The building only has six units and we're all honest and trustworthy tenants. Nobody is going to steal anyone's laundry.

Thanks for sending that link. However, I don't need to take apart my door to fix this.

I called the dealership... $700-800 to do this. More than DOUBLE the highest average I saw online. So, the dealership can kiss my ass on that one. Searched online for the part, and after I did a lot of searching, for hours (even with Kraig's links, which thank you again for posting, but I think I was being too precise in how I went about my search)... my wife found one that will work in about 20 minutes. (This is why I let her handle the internet sleuthing.)

Ordered the part, but the only hitch is the ETA is Monday. Hopefully, I don't encounter a cop who hasn't hit his ticket quota while driving to and from the office this week.

This has really not been a fun couple days.

(On the plus side, one place I checked actually gave me an honest answer and said I could install it without them, easily... and no need to come to the shop to pay someone else to do it. I respect honesty, above all. So while he didn't get my business for this item, I told him I'm keeping his name and number in my phone for future issues. Already have it saved. It's a small victory, but I'll take it... ESPECIALLY considering how many dishonest business/sales people there are out there.)

Well, that's a win.

Sorry to hear about the mirror though :( Maybe keep the order form confirmation to show the officer you're waiting on the part?

Good idea, but they won't care. They'll issue the ticket, and then you'd have to go to court later and prove it was fixed. (I haven't had this happen to me directly, but it has happened to multiple friends AND my mom and grandfather, when he was alive.)

Might work in a small town or even a smaller city... not Miami. It's all about getting money from people, one way or another. (Because even if I did go to Downtown and show proof, I'd still have to spend on tolls going to somewhere I would NEVER go otherwise, pay for parking, etc. Even if I just did an Uber to get there, it would cost me quite a bit.)

Doesn't hurt to try.

Though, honestly, my encounters with law enforcement in multiple cities has been pretty ok so I'm biased. But, I live in a small town, and work in a larger city but not as big as Miami so I don't know. Definitely gotten the "fix it ticket" for an out headlight though from a small town officer.

Oh, you'd better believe I'll give it a shot. I just don't want to have to test theory, based on everything thus far.

I'm somewhat surprised you were able to find the part.
I've been in the car repair business now three years, and I've come to find out car manufacturers and dealers are very proprietary regarding newer vehicles and parts/specs.
Even something as simple as an oil change or a flat repair on a 2024 vehicle usually requires us to call the dealership to get the specs because they're not in the online catalog, and won't be until the end of the year.
