The Hollywood Reporter website has been bombarding my inbox with tons of emails but I never signed up for anything from them. I don't even visit them. They're using an email I don't share with anyone because it's just used for certain purchases, so I don't know what's happening here unless one of those businesses shared the email with them. Unsubscribed and am still getting emails.
This is the third night in a row that the Canadian dispatch system has been down at work. That's been...fun. You can't just mark them spam?
When I was a kid I had mumps, all the kinds of measles you could get and chicken pox. NOW there's monkey pox going around. I'm too old for this mess.
The fact that school children are gunned down and killed every year and no one does anything about it.
^ And they're still calling that psycho in Texas an "alleged" shooter, even though everybody fucking KNOWS he did it!
Well there is always "thoughts and prayers", I'm no expert but as this kind of thing still happens it obviously is working perhaps it might be an idea to try something different. Mass shooting in Port Arthur (Australlia) = Gun Law change Mass shooting in Dunblane (UK) = Gun Law change Mass shooting in Christchuruch (NZ) = Gun Law Change Now no amount of legislation will ever prevent all instances of mass shottings all you can do is minimise the changes of it occuring. Of course next it will be he was mentally ill, so surely a possibt solution would be universal medical care so that these mentally ill people can receive the care they need to get better. Sorry don't mean to rant.
But do any of those countries have gun ownership enshrined in their constitution?? (Hmm, imagine a country where the constitution guarantees one the right to own a gun, but doesn't guarantee a woman's right to autonomy over her own body...) And of course the US also has organizations that are willing to throw millions of dollars at politicians to ensure they don't ever restrict their holy right to gun ownership. But I'm sure the Republicans will continue to offer up their "thoughts and prayers" and act all shocked and dismayed whenever something like this happens, but continue to block any substantial changes. Every. damn. time. It's an appropriate topic for ranting about.
Thoughts and prayers won't give people back their sons, daughters, sisters brothers etc.. And you are frogetting the other big GOP excuse, "Now is not the time", sure the next question should be 'if not now, when?' Just own your position on guns and say something along the lines of "We are happy to accept any number of mass shooting incidents no matter if they are people going to the mall, to see a film, to attend a concert or university and yes even children attending school."
Supposedly the constant use of "alleged" is to protect from libel suits. You can't sue someone for libel if you're dead. In any case, the shooter was caught and killed at the scene. Everybody knows he did it. So what's there left to protect from?
Whatever your personal feelings on guns, you know that's never going to happen. And I don't mean to mini-mod, but isn't this thread going in a direction better suited to TNZ?
Political discussion is allowed in Misc, it just has to be kept civil. And so far, it has been. If that changes at some point, then we may need to take action. For now, I don't want to over-moderate when there's no actual issue at this point. People are just posting in the "things that frustrate us" thread, because they are understandably frustrated.
