Things that frustrate us all

Went to the local mall today and there was a big revolving door and you know how these doors are if you touch the partition before you it stops revolving. So here I was inside said revolving door and there was something wrong with the guy in the next compartment, he kept hitting the door and of course, it wouldn't move. I think he had some mental problem. So here I was pretending that everything was Ok and showing my best toothy smile which is the best attitude in cases like this but for the next few minutes, (that seemed like forever) the guy just kept hitting the door with growing impatience... Fortunately, someone who sounded like some kind of supervisor came and soothed the guy and we finally got out of there. All's well that ends well.:D

Getting into my car: "Boy it's hot. I'll put my window down. Whoops, I clicked the back left window accidentally. Why did it make a noise? Oh, great, my back window's stuck in the down position. Oh look: a thunder shower."

From the little I've read, a previous DA offered him immunity for prior testimony (and the current DA didn't follow through) so it got appealed?

Yeah, that's basically it.

I apologize for my outburst. As much of a slimeball as Cosby is, he deserves a fair trial like everyone else, and he didn't get it.

As I understand it, he was promised that the deposition he gave in the civil case against him would not result in charges. So afterward, the prosecutors welched on the bet and charged him anyway. You just can't do that, no matter what the defendant has done.

When those "rebel songs of your youth" start showing up in ads hawking products like toothpaste, refrigerators, automobiles, and insurance.

After I made an appointment to obtain a new ID card, the current one has just expired, I finally got word that it's done and delivered to city hall but now I've had to make a NEW appointment to get it, even though it's already there! And when you make these it's never in a day or two, it's in nearly two weeks! So my new ID card is sitting in City hall and I can't get to it for two weeks...

Bureaucrats!!!

I met up with a person today who is easily flattered. It's a characteristic that I hope my children won't have. In the same vein, I hope they grow up to be humble and self-aware.

I am always suspicious of someone I don't know that starts making compliments; It makes me think that they could have an ulterior motive.

Had an appointment tomorrow for a haircut. Received a text this morning to confirm, then an hour later, it was cancelled. Just rebooked, and it's at the same time, so I don't know what was going on there:(

Fingers crossed it won't be cancelled in another hour:(

You can't get it mailed to your house? Here we can do that kind of stuff online, and then they'll just mail it directly to your house.

The idea is that they need to verify that it's you in person that comes to get the id and not some other person, which I understand, what I don't get is why they have to be so heavy-handed about it. Plus I don't know how it works elsewhere but here it's completely free.

I see. Depends on the kind of ID, if we're talking a government ID/driver's license I think those are free or at least very cheap.

In this case, I am talking about the ID card. The driver's license is not free (especially the driving lessons) but you get it once and for all unless your driving is so bad that they remove it in which case you have to start over after sometimes a few years. For really bad drivers the license could be revoked forever in which case the only way you can drive again is to buy these small cars that don't require a driving license. I know some people who are in this case. Fortunately, that doesn't concern me. My driving is more than adequate.

Huh, here if you don't have a license you can't get behind the wheel of any car at all.
I believe our licenses are more or less permanent too, although I believe you can get a new one with an updated picture. We also have non-driver IDs, which are pretty identical, other than saying identification card instead of driver license.
