Things that frustrate us all

The coming of Summer.

1. I HATE the hot weather
2. I HATE that my SMUD bill will go up now that I'll need my air conditioner nonstop
3. I HATE that my lawn will turn brown and with Sacramento on water rationing there's nothing I can do about it. We only get two days a week to water the grass and with my disability I'm not always able to do it on the assigned days.
4. The excessive heat causes the surrounding fields to catch fire and burn to the point that the fire dept. can't keep up with it which only makes the Sacramento valley hotter.
5. The excessive heat causes me to vomit up almost every meal so eating can be an "adventure".

We need to abolish summer forever. The only thing to do really.

That does seem harsh, I wouldn’t enjoy a climate like that. Could you move to cooler climes?

Here, we savour the summer because we never know how long it will last. Us Brits go mad for a bit of mild weather. Soon as the sun comes out, everyone heads to the coast, which is a little annoying, because I live by the sea and the traffic goes crazy. It’s nice to see the town so alive though.

No, it's both financially and psyhically impossible for me to move, and I wouldn't want to anyway. I console myself with the knoweldge that at least I don't live in Arizona. As bad as the summer heat can get here it's a wonder those poor bastards aren't dead.

Youngest son won’t help us with the allotment because, and I quote, “he’s lazy, and everyone knows that lazy people don’t do anything”.

Was hoping that this would be a whole family thing.

Not really a frustration other than I can't do anything about it.

We don't "celebrate" holidays, but we do use them as an excuse to get everyone together and have a good time. My mom has not been feeling all that great the last couple of days and when I just called her she said that she just wants to take it easy today. I asked if there's anything she'd like me to do around her house and she said no.

I just wish she was feeling better. It's going to be a long road, but I still worry about her, of course! She's my mom!

I hope she feels better soon.

She halfway through with her chemo sessions. Fingers crossed that the six that her oncologist is hoping is all she'll need take care of it!

Here's hoping!! Sending all the possible good vibes and well wishes!

It might be nice for a change.

Yeah... that attitude will wear off after the first day or two...

Speaking of shoes, Payless ShoeSource, where I've bought my shoes for the last 30 years, is going out of business. Where the hell am I going to find cheap shoes now?

I so feel that. I'm on a bit of a budget, and Payless was my go-to shoe store. I was hoping to at least get in for the clearance, but due to some other financial issues, I haven't been able to.

It seems all the less-expensive options are going out of business lately, leaving only the high-end options. And I can't really do high-end. :(

Well not quite, as a Brit I Ioathe our hot sticky summers. The generally cooler seasons of Spring and Autumn are more my preference. As you point out for those of us that live closer to the coast traffic gets heavier.

I was speaking generally, I’m fair skinned and burn quickly so can’t enjoy the sun as the sun seekers do, but I do notice the difference in everyone else when the sun is out, in contrast to the low grey perma cloud we often have. Everyone beams.

I think you’re in the same part of the country as me, it’s been great to see Morecambe alive this weekend, an early Christmas for the ice cream vans.
