Things that frequently happen in Star Trek

- I like how the futuristic jail cells never seem to be able to hold the prisoners. I think they'd find steel bars far more effective.

- Every freaking Lwaxana Troi episode. She never should have been written onto the show or at most no more than one or two episodes... and then they had to stick her on DS9... boooo!

- Data gets kidnapped (The Most Toys, Brothers, Descent, First Contact, etc).

- Alien possession

I despise Lwaxana Troi but this is not the correct thread.

One crew takes over another ship and are always able to operate it without any problems.

Something bad happens (the crew "de-evolving") and everything's fine in the next episode.

Using an awesome new technology just once.

O'Brien getting tortured/stressed/etc.

The "different" characters (Spock, Data, Worf, Tuvok) being made fun of.

Beaming out of danger in the nick of time (rarely with more than 5 seconds to spare). This happened all the time in the Stargate shows as well.

Sisko/Kira/others hitting a bad guy with the "double downward fists" or TOS characters using the karate chops of death.

Vulcan characters becoming emotionally unstable. Even happened in the shows which did not feature Vulcans in the main cast.

Stealing a shuttle is easier than shoplifting a candy bar. "Captain, someone has just escaped in a shuttle!"

If Kirk is looking forward to meeting some revered scientist or mentor, the Great Man has gone evil or insane . . . .

Surprised no one has mentioned this one.

The Enterprise is the closest ship in the sector/quadrant.

There's a plague or famine on planet XYZ and the Ent must get the serum there or rendezvous with the USS Ludington in 36 hours or else.

Ha! And of course they always managed to disable the tractor beam or phasers!
"Captain, they've locked out the controls!"

Makes you think that all shuttles are equipped with a "Lock Out the Controls" button. Which wouldn't be a stretch, given how many other controls there seem to be to do odd and complex things very quickly. The example that comes to mine is the "Suck All of the Warp Plasma Out of the Engineering Section" button that Picard hits at the end of First Contact.

Actually, it makes sense that engineering would have something in place to quickly vent out dangerous gases.

True, but this is really funny, and a good point.

The Borg seem to have some kind of access codes that permit them to lock the Voyager crew out of key systems. It's never explained exactly what these codes are or where they even came from, just that they serve to make things difficult.

As for repair times, perhaps Sisko was an Engineer at one point and subscribed to the Montgomery Scott school of engineering, multiple your repair estimates by a factor of four. So whe n O'Brien says ten he knows it really means about 2 hours.

I suppose that's why Sisko switched to command.

This threat kindda eerily reminds of every time Bill Mahers makes remarks about someone. I have to keep changing the damn channel...especially when he makes fun of the secretary of defense. I feel like I have to shoot myself, or something! I don't think Hilary is that bad! The make fun of talented people so they can never run for the office. The had the congress for 2 years and they lost it after that...! :guffaw: That guy is a Moron!

In my country...they would have shot you, I think! :rommie:

Obama is a great guy! But this guy always kissing his ass because he's black...!
