They've remade Rake.

One of my favourite shows is being remade by the yanks.

Whoopee!

Rake is about a bit of a bastard played by Greg Kinnear, a mediocre lawyer, who can never seem to catch a break.

Hmmmmm.

Having finished episode one, I can see where they're going, but Greg just isn't as bad boy charming as Richard Roxburgh, so it's a little flat, but then maybe they'll get their shit together by next week?

Hope springs eternal, because Denis O'Hare is playing a cannibal next week who needs a lawyer. :)

Season 3 of the Aussie version begins on Feb 9.

I totally forgot it was premiering last night, I had intended to DVR it.

Question for those who have seen it (and the Aussie version I guess): I remember at least one ad on Fox where they billed it as "If House were a lawyer!" Is this anything close to what the show is? Not that that single line is what I'm basing my interest on, but I was curious how close it was to the reality.

He has a House attitude, but not the House level of professionalism.

"Keegan" is not a great lawyer.

House can be an ass because he is a great Doctor, "Keegan" has no excuse for being an ass.. But honestly, he's not such an ass so much as a loveable fuck up.

The 7 year olds making him breakfast while he's passed out at and hung over at the breakfast table, was just adorable.

The Aussie version is not so hard to find on line if you feel like comparing the two for yourself after you get the new one under your belt.

That was my fear from actually watching it.

But people make up their mind to watch a pilot based on advertising and convenience.

Even if the show was better, it still would have generated the same numbers if the same measures taken to lure an audience were taken before hand.

"If House was a Lawyer"

Not bad, even if it was autoderivative.

What this show should look like to a US audience is "The Arnie Becker Show".... Or possibly "The Dan Fielding Show".

(Gosh I feel old, and I need new references.)

They actually wanted to spin-off Dan Fielding into his own show but Larroquette didn't want to play the character again and thus the 'John Larroquette show was created. Of course that show was a victim of studio meddling in an attemp to "lighten" it up in the second season. I think it was cancelled after the fourth season, but I digress.

I only have TVrips of the first three seasons of the John Larroquette Show and it pisses me off that I don't have the fourth.

That rogue Elephant was hilarious.

After they changed the premise of the show around between the first and second season I lost interest. I think I still watched it from time to time, but it just wasn't the same. Plus I was like 12 at the time so sitting down to watch a sitcom wasn't the most pressing matter for me anyways.

Because of Girls or because of lego?
