Spoilers There will never be Ferengi in DISCO

All I said was “I’d rather they cancel the show” and gave statements of opinion.

I never said “IT SHOULD BE CANCELED!!!”

There’s a difference, and you read incorrectly into my statement of personal preference and put words in my mouth. And then you started calling me childish and telling me to grow up.

There is no difference. Either way you want something you don't personally like to go away so something you might enjoy can take it's place. I stand by my selfish gatekeeper assessment.

You know you could just simply not watch it right?

The difference is this:

I would personally rather they cancel the show so that we can get another series to take its place. One that I might personally enjoy better. If you don’t like a show in a franchise you’re a fan of, isn’t it logical to prefer it end so that you can potentially have another series you may enjoy more?

On the other hand, if I’d said “It should be canceled!” that’s not stating a mere opinion, it’s declaring a direction, and I didn’t do that.

My personal preference is for Discovery to end. I acknowledge it’s place in canon, I just don’t think it’s current direction merits further episodes due to quality issues. That’s an opinion, which I’m allowed to have without you calling me childish and petty.

I fully recognize others enjoy Discovery and that’s fine. I’m still allowed to have a poor opinion of it, and also to express that opinion without being called names.

Aside from the pointed ears, this Ferengi isn't really all that different. I'm wondering, if maybe the additional changes to the skin texture are just meant to represent age? Aside from the Nagus and Moogie, we've never really seen aged Ferengi before. If we assume they're meant to represent elderly Ferengi, than maybe this Ferengi Captain is middle aged?
it’s been stated no new shows will be produced until one of the current shows ends.
When has that been stated? We have a new show premiering at the end of the month and another one coming next year, with none of the current shows ending any time soon.

No it's selfish and egotistical. There are plenty of tv shows I don't like, but other people do. Why would I want to take away something that other people enjoy? I just don't watch it and move on

No one says you have to like Discovery. But you can simply just not watch it.

WHAT?!?!?!!!
Not watch a show I don't like? But how will everyone know the show sucks if I'm not there online pointing out my hatred of the show with a detailed analysis of why I hate it? How, I ask you? HOW?!?!?!?!
;)

I know I should just hand in my fanboy card.

I'll continue watching it because Star Trek has been such a huge part of my life for so long and I'm a devoted fanboy of the franchise. And like I said, I enjoyed season 1-2. I only hope the quality improves from season 3. I have every right to criticize it while continuing to watch it.

But anyway, I'm done talking to you (though I will continue to freely state my opinions). Bye!

The cognitive dissonance is strong with you.

Smell ya later.

This new "Ferengi" is:
an artistic abomination
a cultural catastrophe
an anathema to Gene's Vision™
an aversion of the trekkian paradigm
a detestation of the beauteous archetype
an amalgam of ghastly excretions
I love it.
But Gene *was* a Ferengi?

I can't disagree enough about the quality of the show - but that is the beauty of TV and its subjective nature.

With the "I want it cancelled" stuff - I can't remember where it was reported but I am sure they were holding off S31 until one show ended and so it is, sadly, a zero sum game.

In this case, I understand the "greater good" argument you are making. Presumably if there weren't other shows contingent on it you would be less averse to it continuing but in this case I see yout reasoning and it is kind of fair enough.

Shame that something we all love so much (being Trek as a whole) can be as divisive but hey ho

If it keeps S31 off the air I hope Discovery gets 100 seasons

The Star Trek show that will end first is Picard, due to Patrick Stewart's age. I think that one's pretty obvious.

Prodigy will end next because kids' shows don't run too many seasons, normally. It'll be replaced with another Star Trek show intended for kids.

Strange New Worlds will probably have a long run. Lower Decks will run forever.

Discovery, mark my words, will run for seven seasons.

Will have to agree to disagree mate as I like the idea of seeing the dark side but most importantly I will just be happy that there is Trek on TV.
I don't mind the dark side either I just think things like S31 or the Borg lose all their fear factor and edge when explored too closely. Both have already gone too far I think so a whole show about one is a big mistake I think

I think this was said by Kurtzman in a discussion about S31 and the "current" shows was shows currently in production. The implication was S31 will not come, if it actually does come, until Picard is done.
