Not letting XFL players under contract play for the NFL before the league had even made its debut was not a good way to start things.
I just don't see these 10 game minor leagues in the Spring ever succeeding.
We've had the:
While the Spring leagues don't compete directly, we already have football saturation with High School, College and the NFL all playing in the Fall, but they operate year round providing news and events like the NFL Draft and Spring games at the College level. Does any kind of appetite really exist to watch extremely fringe NFL prospects play each other? Not to mention that football is the absolute most expensive sport to put on.
A new startup league that actually captures the public's imagination is going to have to be something that touts itself as a competitor, not a feeder system. Which even a limited sized 12 team league would hemorrhage red ink to the tune of probably billions of dollars trying to compete.

- NFL Europe
- XFL I
- AAF
- XFL II

The Rock and partners have decided to shoot for 2022 as the next season of the XFL. Smart move, but now nothing to fill in the gap after the Super Bowl.
I struggle to see them getting up off the ground again, but I wish them the best of luck.
