theory

Hmm... I think this kind of expansion on "The Force" is better suited to the tie-in animated stuff and comics rather than in the movies themselves.

I just can't see them going for the OP's theory, I just can't see them going for that kind of time travel crazieness, it's not Doctor Who.
Agree with most of your points - never noticed anything 'off' in the Jyn/rebel leaders scene to be honest. It hugely entertained me either way, and genuinely transported me back to the world of the original movie, despite the minor errors in continuity with the beginning of ANH (which I can kind of wave away because I love the movie - I'd find it harder to if I didn't). Visually, I think it's the best SW movie of them all, and that space battle has set a bar that I expect TROS to at least meet. With Snoke's ship in pieces I'll be interested to see if Abrams comes up with some sort of super sized weapon/battleship for the focus of the final battle, as surely another Death Star is not on the cards.
Well, we did see the ruins of the second Death Start in the teaser........

The dialogue in the scene between Jyn and the rebel leaders feels very off like they reshot part of it, I'm just not sure which part.

For one thing, they cut out "I rebel". Not exactly a tragedy IMO.

Still, doing so would require some major exposition for those not familiar with Rebels, which is a significant part of the audience. I think that makes it highly unlikely. Not impossible. But I'm not holding my breath.

At one point I would have been nearly 100% confident that plot points from the cartoons wouldn't make it into the films. But then Maul turned up in Solo and now I'm not so sure.

Never mind the whole Anakin's scar thing and General Grievous.

Maul was in one of the standalones and could have/might be explained somewhere down the line (particularly had there been a Solo 2) but I think it was a pretty big mistake on the filmmakers’ part. Knowing he dies... again and knowing the possibility it isn’t something that that element likely won’t get follow-up it needs, it just sits there oddly. Not everyone watches the cartoons.

Anakin’s scar and Greivous were actually elements in ROTS that they worked into the first Clone Wars series.

But yes, because of the Maul stuff, it’s possible that we might see this aspect. But because the World Between Worlds really does require some explanation and if the marketing is to be believed, there won’t be a follow-up to TRoS, I can’t imagine they’ll work something that big into the movie in what already promises to be a very busy movie.

But I have been wrong before.

Anakin's scar was originally from the comic books.

Which comic? Because during production in 2003, when asked about the scar, Lucas says this:

"'So how did Anakin get that scar, George?' asks John Knoll. 'I don't know. Ask Howard,' says George, referring to president of Lucas Licensing, Howard Roffman. 'That's one of those things that happens in the novels between the movies. I just put it there. He has to explain how it got there. I think Anakin got it slipping in the bathtub, but of course, he's not going to tell anybody that.'"

It may have appeared in whatever comic book you speak of (or Gendy's Clone Wars series) first, but I'm fairly certain the idea came from GL himself for ROTS.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. The scar first appeared in "Republic #71: The Dreadnaughts of Rendili, Part 3," published on November 24, 2004. ROTS was released a scant six months later. Principal photography wrapped in September 2003. While it would be possible to add the scar in later (and I wouldn't put it past GL to do such a thing), photos of Hayden Christensen on set from that time show the scar.

I guess in retrospect it's the same as the reference to Labyrinth of Evil that's in ROTS ( the "business on Cato Neimoidia" ). That presumably would have been shot before the book came out.
