What if Syfy were sold by NBC Universal-Comcast to CBS?

Would CBS even own the type of Sci-Fi programming to put on SyFy?

I had no idea SyFy was worth that much. I'm in the wrong business.

I guess if they went out of their way to acquire the channel, they'd want to put some programming on it that fits. On the other hand, ghosts aren't really sci fi, and we've got lots of ghost shows on the network now.

I think if CBS somehow acquired SyFy, they'd want to do something different with it and may just go ahead and rebrand it into a new network. In such a case, they'd simply ditch (or downplay) the niche sci-fi angle altogether and incorporate more mainstream fare from their large library of past shows, including thousands of daytime soap opera episodes...

Comcast is buying NBCU for its cable assets, they have no reason to sell SyFy. Comcast is more likely to turn around and sell NBC to rid itself of the dead weight.

Maybe CBS should buy NBC - that's a great network for Star Trek - NBC is trying to build up their demo in just the range that AbramsTrek appeals to, and they're still desperate enough that the ratings hurdle would not be too high.

Time for Star Trek to return to its original home.
