Theme Park Favorites

As a man from the city of Orlando, FL, I grew up around the various theme parks in the area. Some of the storylines of the various rides even inspired some of my writing in the fanfiction arena.

Here are my favorites:

Parks:

1. EPCOT Center
2. Sea World Orlando
3. Universal Studios Florida
4. Islands of Adventure
5. Busch Gardens Tampa

Attractions (Closed down, sadly :().

1. Extraterrorestrial Alien Encounter (Disney World, Orlando) (Inspired another idea for my mega-crossover Voyager fic)
2. Mission Bermuda Triangle (Sea World, Orlando)
3. Back to the Future The Ride (Universal Studios Florida)
4. Horizons (EPCOT Center)
5. World of Motion (EPCOT Center)
6. The Living Seas (EPCOT Center (I'm not a fan of the new Finding Nemo theme remodelings done to it).
7. Hanna Barbera's Cartoon Adventure (Universal Studios Florida)
8. Akbar's Adventure (Busch Gardens)
9. Body Wars (EPCOT Center) - (It could easily be a Voyager episode, just shrink the Delta Flyer down small enough to go at a cellular level into someone's body...)

Attractions (Active, thankfully :))

1. The Land (EPCOT Center)
2. Spaceship Earth (EPCOT Center)
3. Poseidon's Fury (Universal's Islands of Adventure)
4. Jurassic Park (Universal's Islands of Adventure)
5. Journey to Atlantis (Sea World Orlando) - (Wouldn't advise riding this in the winter (it was about 45-55 F outside) though. Thank God I had fast drying hiking clothes on)
6. Jaws (Universal Studios Florida)
7. Disaster (Formerly Earthquake) (Universal Studios Florida)
8. Universe of Energy (EPCOT Center) - (I liked the variant from the early '90s better than the Bill Nye twist from 1996 on better)
9. Wild Arctic (Sea World Orlando)

What's everyone's favorite parks/attractions?

I grew up in Ohio where roller coasters are the theme park's center of attraction not the kind gentle mickey mouse in Florida and California. To name a few:

Geauga Lake: The original Double Loop coaster, X-Flight, Steal Venom, Big Dipper (7th oldest coaster)
Cedar Point: Millennium Force, Dragster, Maverick, Demon Drop
Kings Island: The Beast, Drop Tower

A state from the era of the thrill ride not happy global commercialism. A place where teens cry in fear after a reasonable wait for their turn to die. Florida theme parks bake you in the sun till you forgot which ride line you are in then its over like that! Buy the picture tourist.

Florida rollercoasters are nothing to sneeze at either:

Montu - Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (Highest floorless coaster in the South East)
Kraken - Sea World Orlando - Tallest Steel Coaster in the South East (
Incredible Hulk - Islands of Adventure - Zero to sixty in less than a couple seconds.
Dueling Dragons - Islands of Adventure - Fire or Ice?
Gwazi - Busch Gardens - Oldschool wooden coaster

Sorry your experience in Florida Parks was bad. Perhaps you should have gone to the attractions furthest from the entrance and worked your way forward to the entrance as the day went on to beat the crowds.

I grew up about half an hour from Cedar Point. No amusement park can compare to that. Man I miss that place. And I'm really sad to hear the Geagua Lake is no more. Just as many memories about that place as Cedar Point.

I've heard of Cedar Point, but never been. Having grown up in Florida most of my life I've always liked the Florida parks a lot.

OK. Point made, we all have our particular favorites. If I'm ever near Ohio I'll give Cedar Point a look, but I'll always have a place in my heart for the Florida Theme Parks.

Dorney Park in Allentown, PA:
Thunderhawke as it is called now but when I was growing up it was just the yellow roller coaster officially the Dorney Coaster
Flying Dutchman (now gone it was a Zyklon coaster of which there was another in a now gone amusement park Magic Valley in Bushkill, PA. It was called Screamin' Demon)
Hercules now gone.
Steel Force

Hershey Park
The Comet
Lighting Racer

Kneobles
The Pheonix

WDW in FL

Space Mountain
Tower of Terror
Test Track
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Epcot is my favorite of the parks there.

Sadly with my declining health I can't go on much any more and there is so much more that I loved this is just a small sample.

My favorite as well. On the world in my fanfic that was inspired by a few EPCOT attractions, allow me to dedicate it to you.

I'm sorry things have turned that way for you my friend. For what it's worth, my sympathies.

I like Hershey Park, though I've only been once. Went to Disneyland when I was in college, back when Star Tours was still an attraction. That was fun. Space Mountain was my favorite ride.

But my favorite parks growing up were Astro Land on Coney Island...which is pretty much gone now, and Elitch Gardens in Denver. The old one, before it was moved and briefly became a Six Flags Park.

Thanks. Then next few months to a year are going to be not so good. I've got to go through a treatment for a virus I got from one of my blood transfusions I got as a kid and then that should open up the way for a heart transplant assuming the heart doesn't give out before hand.

I love walking Epcot's future world. I just love the look and feel of it there. If all goes well my wife and I are planning our 15th wedding anniversary trip to there again in 2012.

For what it's worth, again, my prayers to you my friend.

Well. The EPCOT themed world I invented is kinda a world's fair type planet with similar landmarks to both EPCOT Futureworld and EPCOT World Showcase. You can see which EPCOT attractions I'm a fan of. Which are your favorites?

Aw, jeez. Sending good thoughts. I'm sure you'll make it to your 15th anniversary!

After my heart racing at around 250-260 bpm on the late night of Feb 28 to the early next morning causing my ICD to shock my heart at least 10 times in 2 hours I'm for the first time wondering.

But everything is stable, for now.

Epcot is definately my favorite! Just take a look at my avatar to get an idea of one of my favorites there. My all time favorite attraction that is sadly now extinct is Horizons. Anyone who's been on it knows why. If you haven't, Google it on images. It's worth a look.

And there is always the classics, Pirates of the Carribean, and Haunted Mansion.

I live in Oregon, no theme parks here but lots of beautiful country to enjoy. I spent about three years in Florida though as a kid and visited a lot of places there, including Disney World the week it opened. I'm guessing things have changed a lot since then.

I love Epcot, too. I haven't been back in YEARS, but I'm dying to go. But a trip to Disneyworld is a big expense and my hubby is a real tightwad. There was so much to do, so many rides/shows and wonderful places to eat!

I also have a real affection of Disneyland. It's smaller and very manageable. I LOVE the Indiana Jones ride; I could go on that 3 or 4 times in a row and still have fun.

I went to Universal Orlando right after it opened and had a blast. It had great rides and great atmosphere. The Dr. Seuss Land was very impressive.

I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Cedar Point, as I am a fan of roller coasters, but no one I know likes them as much as I do.
