The X-Files - little things to watch for in the 2016 revival

Perhaps a Plutonic relationship is one that get downgraded from its previous high, fondly remembered status as one ages and the memory fades.

I watched the X files behind the scenes thing today and I can't wait till the series returns. Looks like most of it will be standalone, making me wonder if this won't be it for the series. I hope we get a recap of the mythology because it did get convoluted around Season 4

I prefer the mythology stuff to the light-hearted "monster of the week" stories. But the mythology was a complete, meandering mess at the end, like the writers didn't know what to do with it. Maybe it should have just ended when the Syndicate was eradicated.

But hopefully we'll find out what happened with the 2012 invasion.

The behind the scene things looked great. I think everyone wants to do a few episodes every once and awhile from the looks of it. I think the only hold out i the future might be Gillian Anderson. She seems bored with it in interviews.

People always say this, and it just isn't true.

It's complicated, a little convoluted, but everything makes sense.

I follow her on Twitter, and she's constantly posting X-Files related things. I doubt she'd do that if she wasn't excited.

Actors get paid to talk up a show on social media. So while I'm not saying she's genuinely excited for the new X-Files, she IS being compensated for the Twitter posts.

I'm still sad about The Lone Gunmen being killed off all those years ago...

But still looking forward to these new episodes. Also, Rhys Darby seems to be cosplaying Carl Kolchak, which is awesome. Plus, Skinner! As I recall, our theater audience clapped and cheered when he appeared onscreen in the second movie, the high point of an otherwise dreary experience.

Skinner appearing in the second film was only half of it. Scully's line right before it about finding somebody who does have some balls, made it even more awsome.

The Lone Gunmen are in the new making of video for the new series...

This is one of the things I have grown to hate about the series: nobody important really ever dies.

Smoking Man: Apparently alive.
The Lone Gunmen: maybe also alive
Krycek: lived
Mulder: fell off a cliff, died. Came back.

Off the top of my head. There's always some clone, alien hybrid, or what ever explination. The impact of a character's death is lost and in hte back of your head you think -- the next time a character faces a possible death scene -- they'll just be back later.

I'm happy Annabeth Gish is coming back. I know many people don't like Season 9, but I didn't think it was that bad and Gish and Patrick were not the reason that season was of lesser quality. It's hard coming in for two characters who became iconic. I wish Patrick would have come back, but getting one of them it cool too.

Indeed. Doggett and Reyes were definitely not the problem with Season 9. The season wasn't even that bad; it was just too much of the same.

I saw. I just don't think it's a valid point in those cases. Krycek is dead. Skinner shot him in the head.

Yeah, the Mulder who fell off the cliff was actually a Shapeshifter, but the only person who thought it was Mulder at all was Agent Doggett. If any audience member actually thought they killed off Mulder in that scene, well, they clearly aren't that experienced with television.
