The Wrath of Khan

Love TWOK. Can't really narrow it down to one element, all of it just works so well together and it's a film I never get bored of, it has such a great rhythm to it from the uneasy build up, the first burst of action, the tense calm after the ambush, and the climatic final battle, not a minute is wasted as it all builds suspense or gives us nice character moments.

TMP is a film I've grown to appreciate more as I've gotten older, I see what they were going for though there are a few things I would've loved to have seen done differently--I do think if it had been the only film outing then it should've been Kirk and Spock who bonded with V'Ger and went on to explore new realities, giving them a happy ending together as the explorers they are, whilst the Enterprise heads out on another bold new mission.

TVH is probably the one I've had the biggest change of heart about, used to enjoy it but now find it so cringy and cheesy, its not one I choose to watch if I can help it.

That would have just fuelled the wrong kinds of rumours. I find it sad that two men or women can’t be as close as brothers or sisters, without others on the outside speculating about whether or not they are involved intimately.

TWOK is a film that I can appreciate on the technical side, and it is a well constructed film. However, as a movie that I just want to sit down and watch I struggle with it. The simulator test at the beginning is interesting, and so is Kirk's birthday party but the rest is just tough.

Well put together, and a momentous film. Just one I am not inclined to watch.

Me neither, it felt like they were trying to distance themselves from TMP too much.

TMP should’ve netted a real sequel or two before WOK, imo. The abrupt transition to those red woolen uniforms that were better suited to working a whaler in the arctic was jarring.

To be fair, I don't enjoy TMP for the same reasons-the transition from TOS to TMP was jarring and then TWOK was jarring. Well constructed films but not what I wanted or expected in Star Trek.

This is nothing against the films and pretty much all with me. They simply don't hit me where I live.

Understandable. With me it was more to do with chance.

TMP is what got me into ST, it just happened to hit me at the right time and place. It was the strangest film I’d ever encountered before. The soundtrack, the klaxons, the weird pacing. It was all so alien to adolescent me.

This may be an off-topic question, but I got my Star charts and Cartographer’s Reference Library books finally.

The Cart Ref has Earth in the beta quadrant, but I see Earth in the alpha quadrant in Star charts.

I've seen both. One of the first charts I recall seeing had Earth pretty much straddling the boarder between the two quadrants.
I’ve heard that it straddles the quadrants. There’s one more very old ST star charts book i’ve yet to order. It was published in 1980, I think.
It will be interesting to see where they’ve placed Earth.
