The Wrath Of Khan Questions??

According to the star dates given in the episode, Catspaw takes place before Space Seed.

Lucky coincidence. Stardates in TOS weren't planned out that carefully.

True, but I’ve noticed that ordering the episodes by Stardate actually works out very well and I prefer it to either air order or production order. Another thing I really like about it is how Amok Time is backdated to immediately before This Side of Paradise.

...Of course, a dating system where everything rolls back to zero after mere ten years (as indicated by the progression from low 1000s to high 5000s during a five-year mission) is pretty worthless. So the TOS dates might actually be truncations of a five-, six- or even seven-digit complete date, and TAS episodes just take place a decade later than the TOS ones. :p

No, really - some of the TAS stuff can be made to work that way. Not all of it, though, and not all the TOS movies. But TOS itself works much better in stardate order than in production or airdate or alphabetical order... Effect follows cause nicely enough, and even most of the apparent overlaps can be explained away.

^Note that Alan Dean Foster reordered TAS for his "ST Logs" adaptations, and gave all 22 episodes new sequential stardates.

Was that not because at this point they had worked out a 'working' Stardate system?

I'd like to think, for the sake of simplicity that all of TAS (excluding Flashbacks, etc) took place post TOS season 3. Obviously, it didn't cover events up until TMP, but it did continue the story, albeit in animated media.

It would be a bit awkward to try an squeeze TAS episodes between TOS ones, but not impossible. The much-hailed chances to the ship were really minimal, after all - basically being limited to one new doorway on the bridge (not even visible in most episodes) and to the occasional presence of moveable items (mainly shuttlecraft) that weren't present in some episodes of TOS but weren't really verified as being absent in all of TOS, either.

The main heroes retained their TOS ranks, save for that Lieutenant stripe occasionally witnessed on Chapel. Kyle grew a moustache. And M'Ress and Arex were seen while Chekov was not. But that's just crew rotation for ya - not all that different from Uhura and Palmer alternating.

No. The only guide for stardates at that time was that they should be seen to advance during an episode, not necessarily from episode to episode. TAS had quite random numbers compared to TOS, and ADF's books were novelizing the episodes, at first three stories at a time, and later one at a time (plus new adventures) where ADF chose to put them into one long, new continuity. He decided to make the TAS stardates progress as if the adaptations were all one set of consecutive log entries.

IIRC, the first attempts to explain TOS stardates any further for fans were in brochures by Lincoln Enterprises (was it something like "50 questions about Star Trek"?)

Which is what ADF did.

Have you noticed the round bases on the bridge chairs in TAS?

Out of interest, is there a list of episodes in stardate order anywhere?
