The Worst TNG Moment

PamalaLauren

Vice Admiral

What is in your opinion the worst TNG moment in the show? Is there an episode that you think was bad? A decision that was made that was horrible? A movie that should have never been made?

"homeward" is pretty bad from an ethical perspective.

"code of honor" is pretty bad from a racial perspective.

"shades of gray" is pretty bad from a perspective of "episodes that suck."

"cost of living" is pretty bad from a "who greenlit an episode like this?" perspective.

"I feel happiness and great joy" "he's hiding something" "I sense anger" and pretty much any other dialog Deanna got was just cringe worthy in the first couple seasons.

"Code of Honor" was miserable, and I was also not a big fan of "Lonely Among Us."

Firing Ron Jones was probably a low point on the series.

- The skant

- Yar's drug speech

- Code of Honor

- Families on the ship

- Pretty much anything involving Wesley prior to the third season

- Pulaski

Sub Rosa.

I'm on a marathon rewatching of ALL of trek with my girlfriend (Lt Rowy), and we got to that episode. We got to the point where the old guy with the bad accent runs in and says, "Be rid o' tha' Candle! If ye keep i', I'll nae be responsible for th' consequences!" and she said, "This is shit, let's skip it."

I said, "Okay," and we did.

I gave her a brief summary of what happens (haunted candle, ghost loves Beverly, ghost dies) and we moved on.

I'm going to go with Deanna Troi being promoted above Data.

Yeah. Ship's Counselor over a highly decorated and experienced Operations Manager. Same can be said for Doctor Crusher.

So if Deanna does the exam and gets to be a Commander, why isn't Data a commander as well? Is he not *GASP!* a bridge officer as well?

Knowing this will stray us from the OP's topic, I must present my theory about the "bridge officer's test." It seems to me that such a test is only required to be administered when somebody from the science or medical department applies to be a commander. For the command track or any of the gold uniform departments, it seems that the test can be administered at any point in their career. What makes most sense to me is that folks with a red or gold uniform take it during their final year at the Academy.

Obviously, Data is a qualified bridge officer, assuming the mantle of "acting captain" in "Gambit." Geordi is too, having taken command in "Arsenal of Freedom." In that same episode, we see Lieutenant Logan attempt to take command of the bridge, implying that he, too has taken the test. Finally, Harry Kim has clearly taken it at some point, either during his days in the Academy or sometime off-screen after Voyager gets stuck in the Delta Quadrant.

This is just my theory, but it seems to make the most sense to me.

The most likely explanation as for Data's lack of advancement (beyond LCDR) is that he simply does not feel ambition. He was not in a hurry to advance. Being an android, he had plenty of time - barring accidents, such as the one that took his life, he could have essentially lived forever. So what's the rush?

I think it has to be Code of Honor. There were certainly duller and more generic episodes, but none that were as incredibly clueless and wrongheaded as that.

Anybody watching "The Outrageous Okona" lately? Or, "Pen Pals"? Yeesh.

I agree Pulaski could be grating, but I just watched Pen Pals again and thought she was fine in that. She actually came across as warm and likeable in her interaction with the alien girl, in fact.

Which was definitely rare for her. Lol

The dude in the miniskirt in the pilot - for reasons of political correctness overload and he didn't have the legs for it.

man-skirts are awesome booo! :P

i vote for any episode wesley saves the day in season 1
