The World really is ending in 2012...

If Sarah Palin is the best the GOP can put forward in 2012 (which of course it won't be - at least they'd better hope not), they are fucked. Palin barely escaped the lynch mob last year, not sure what another three years is going to do to improve her image as a know-nothing hockey mom who bumbled her way into office. Hillary Clinton makes her look like such an amateur, like we should all be sitting around wondering how Palin even managed to get into the clubhouse to play in the first place.

The Democrats could probably just say "Repossessed six figure wardrobe" over and over again and she'd lose.

Write her off if you want but how successful she is (or any conservative is) in 2012 depends on how the next four years go. If Obama tacks to the middle like he's been doing since elected, he'll keep conservatives relatively happy and they'll likely re-elect him. If he begins to move to the hard left (as conservatives fear), he'll energize the evangelical right - the same evangelical right that Palin appeals to and the same evangelical right that elected W twice (and he WAS elected twice).

No wonder Mayans stopped their calendar on Dec 21, 2012! They were too busy laughing at Palin running for office to continue it!

Yep. Common sense, this.

No, it's only half common sense.

If Obama is a failure, other potential heavy-hitters will smell blood in the water and enter the Republican primaries - people with the broader appeal necessary to carry enough states to win. Electorally, Palin demonstrated very limited effectiveness during the 2008 campaign and that's true no matter how many people painted her name on their chests during rallies or <3 her on Facebook.

Eight years and some real hard work, and Palin could be a serious contender in 2016. The only way she gets the nomination in 2012 is if no one else wants it and she's a sacrificial candidate.

I'm sure the press will just install H again in 4 years. Now if that congressman in NY gets the 22nd Amendment repealed he'll just stay in as long as the media wants.

But I love how a real woman like Palin sends you folks scurrying to comfort one another.

Real woman? Sorry, my mother is a real woman, this woman
is a joke and most "real women" find her to be an insult.

And regardless of what happens over the next 4 years, a
legitimate Republican better step up for their sake, not her.

The last thing I want is for a "common" person to be the most powerful person in the world, I want someone of extraordinary intellect and reasoning to hold that office. I don't know that Obama is that person yet, but I am certain that he fits the bill far better than Mrs Palin.

Four years is all it will take for a serious contender. Look at the Carter Presidency.

Anyone who think Palin has a serious shot in 2012 needs his head examined. This is news media fodder to get the masses all excited. Worry about 2012 when 2011 rolls around.

Maybe if she can answer the press' hard hitting questions like "What newspapers do you read" she'll have a shot.

At some point you'll have to face the fact that the American people elected Obama, and by a considerably greater margin than Georgie Boy managed even the time that he wasn't "installed" by SCOTUS.

Your sour grapes approach to this so far is just ugly and sad.

Palin's as much of a "real woman" as Jenna Jameson - they're both naive, fearful and socially maladjusted mens fantasies of what a woman ought to be like.

She's less a candidate than an ideological fetish at this point.

Real women voted against her with a passion, all over this country. :techman:
