I don’t see him being Superman caused him to leave. One is a movie role which he can do between seasons. It’s not like he’s constantly making Witcher episodes.
Maybe he got the Bond role as well

Cavill is known for being an avid fan of the books. Creative differences? Coincidence? Given his popularity, you would think the preference would be to hit pause until he was available, rather than press on without him.

Not really. I've become very fond of the character and the actor. He's the reason I like the show so much--that character played by that actor. Putting in someone else who is younger, has a different build, voice, etc kinda ruins it for me.
