As always I am working on a TOS project; now myself and my friend Tim are detailing all of the bridge control panels and the different iterations throughout the series. This will dovetail nicely with the display project that I continually work on, lol. For your viewing pleasure; here is the first season version of the Comm 2 panel:
I'm finding realistic hair to be pretty tricky, but the rest is pretty straightforward if you have a head mesh to start from.
That Batman is awesome Vektor, have you considered adding a big hand-crank grappling gun in his empty hand or hanging off his hip? Seems like it would suit perfectly.
I actually did consider something very much like that for his right hand but I ran out of time to include it for the contest submission. I might do a "director's cut" later on, though.
I've been doing some toony images of girls' volleyball, and couldn't find decent props or sets ... so I've been modeling a full-size volleyball facility. Yeah, I really need a life ...
Thanks, Finn - I'm a lot better with straight lines than complex shapes - I'm hoping I can somehow siphon off some of Vektor's skill and talent some day .
I was randomly selected to choose the theme for this month's art challenge at ImagineFX.com. After mulling it over for a couple of days, nothing brilliant was coming to mind, so I shook my head a couple of times and the words, "Big Red" popped out. Fortunately, the monthly challenges trend toward somewhat open-ended themes.
After finishing my Steampunk Batman entry for last month (which appears to have scored me a second win, by the way), I wasn't really planning to participate in another challenge right away, but then an idea popped into my head that pretty much demanded to be painted. Here is the latest WIP image of that idea:
I wish I could say it was something clever and interesting, but I slammed that logo together in the last half hour or so before the contest deadline and I pretty much picked the letters at random.
As for the power source, I'm going with coal fusion.
Nice, Vector! I noticed that the rails have to be pretty substantial to support that thing. The observation decks, especially their support structure, remind me of similar structures on the towers of various warships. That's definitely a good thing, since it gives it a more real look.
