The Whale Probe Incident: What Would the Other Captains Have Done?

Suppose that the events of TVH had ocurred not in 2286, but circa 2373, when they may have involved the crew of Picard's Enterprise or the Defiant. What would Picard or Sisko have done?

They probably would have reversed the polarity of the deflector dish to counteract the transmission from the probe and then used the tractor beam to pull it away.

Picard would send Riker and Data to beam aboard it, then Q would show up and tell him it's a test or something. Troi would also tell him that she senses it's confused.

Sisko would blow it up with the Defiant.

Janeway would go back in time, arm everyone on Earth with future weapons and warn them about the probe, run into Braxton and tell him to get off her ship, and then come back and get promoted to president.

Would he? It seems to be that the probe would have affected the Defiant's systems as easily as it affected those of the Saratoga and the Yorktown.

Furthermore, I wonder if the probe's transmissions would have affected Data, Seven, or the Doctor in any way, given that each of them is made up or relies on technology to sustain them.

Furthermore, I wonder if the probe's transmissions would have affected Data, Seven, or the Doctor in any way, given that each of them is made up or relies on technology to sustain them.

They are having fun with this one. The Dominion made that remark because he's the Sisko!!!!!


Seven would have recognized the technology and reconfigured the deflector to request the probe to stop.
Geordi would have phased and cloaked Earth so the Probe wouldn't find it and turn back.

And, while it would never happen, it would be awesome if Data referenced Finding Nemo and announced, "I speak whale."

Picard, Sisko and Janeway would have found a way to communicate with the Probe. Guinan would have told Picard that she knows myths about it, Seven would have told Janeway that the Borg once tried to assimilate one of these, and Sisko, yeah well Sisko doesn't need help. Archer would have stopped the Xindi attack by torturing one of those whale guys for information.
