FEATURING

Minister Odo

With special Guest Stars

The late Jean-Luc Picard
And
Q: ‘the misanthrope’

OUTER-SPACE; JUST BEYOND THE ENTRANCE OF THE BAJORAN WORMHOLE, ON THE GAMMA QUADRANT SIDE

The Tempest was unable to move, and Mathew now knew why. They were being held in place by the alien known as Q. And, now, the late Jean-Luc Picard was standing before him, and Minister Odo, alive and well, with Q standing there and enjoying it all.

“What is going on Q?” Picard asked. “Am I supposed to be dead?” Picard demanded.

Q gave them all an impish look. “Yes, Jean-Luc, you are dead. Well, sort of,” Q continued, “I have decided to bring you back to life just so that you can talk some sense here to your ape like minion and his trusted sidekick Tonto...or was that Odo?”

Odo took his cue and dove in, “I didn’t like you back then and I still don’t like you now.” Odo said to Q. Then he looked to Picard. “Sir, could please tell us what is going on?”

“But first,” Mathew said, “take a seat Admiral. I’m not sure how stable the legs of a dead man are.”

“Don’t call him admiral,” Q said quickly, “I am the senior officer onboard.” Q said as he tapped the pips on his collar.

Q and Picard sat down in the two passenger seats behind the cockpit of the Tempest.

Picard took in his surroundings and then spoke, “Fill me in. What is happening right now?” Picard asked.

Mathew spoke. “My niece, Ramada, has been kidnapped by a Pah-wraith, who has possession of a Founder’s ‘body’ and is now posing as a Bajoran named Hol’comb. Bringing that,” he pointed to the chest of the Orb, “to Hol’comb will secure her release.”

Picard looked to Q. “Q, I was an Admiral when you came to me about the Dark Orb Trilogy. Why do you have me in my old Captain’s outfit from the Enterprise-D?”

Q shook his head. “You’ve been demoted.”

Picard looked to Mathew. “You were supposed to hide the Orb on a world that no one could find, and then have your memory erased so that all traces were gone as to where it was.”

“And thus,” Q continued, “you were demoted Jean-Luc for not seeing that this was the case.”

Mathew looked to Q. “The Admiral had no idea I had retrieved my memory. I went through great pains doing exactly what he ordered. But I also left clues to be found after I had my memory erased, in case something like this were to happen in the future. And now, it has.”

Then Odo took over. “And so we contacted the Emissary, Captain Sisko, to let him know we were going to retrieve the Orb and bring it through the wormhole, which is where we are now.”

Q exhaled a deep sigh. “But that isn’t all Jean-Luc. The pesky little do-gooder, Sisko’s son, is also well aware of what the Orb is. He is, in fact, the one pulling all the strings. He used Hol’comb to lure your friend here,” Q motioned to Mathew, “by kidnapping the girl.”

“I think the Emissary is playing a hand in this as well.” Odo added.

“How can that be?” Picard asked.

“Because,” Odo answered, “another Pah-wraith is inside of Jake’s body. It’s been hiding inside of Jake for nearly forty years. Jake may believe he is doing this to save his father from eternal servitude to the wormhole aliens. But his judgment is being clouded, I believe, by this Koste mojin that is still inside of him. For all we know, Captain Sisko may be going along with this plan so as to free Jake from the Koste Mojin once and for all.”

Picard looked to Q. “Why wasn’t I informed of this?” Picard asked.

“How was I supposed to know?” Q replied.

“You’re supposed to be Omnipotent.” Odo said, for the captain.

Q gave a dejected look. “I am, I am.” Q said softly. “But these Pah-wraiths can exist outside of the continuum with the best of them.”

“What does this mean?” Mathew asked. “What is going to happen when we bring that thing through the wormhole?”

They all looked to Q.

“You can’t bring it through the wormhole.” Q finally said.

“Oh, and tell me why the hell not?” Mat asked

Picard answered for Q. “If this third Orb is united with the other two, it could quite possibly release a force that could threaten all life on the other side of this wormhole, and beyond.”

“I couldn’t have put it any better.”Q said with a cheerful smile.

“Then why are you here?” Odo demanded of Q. “Why doesn’t your Continuum just take care of it?”

Q Shook his head. “We have a rule not to intervene in the affairs of other non-corporal life forms.”

“But your being here and warning us not to bring this Orb through could be considered interfering.” Mathew said to Q.

Q laughed. “Then think of me as an unbiased observer.” Q said. “But I guarantee this; go through with this plan of yours to save one human and you will risk her life, and many more.”

Picard looked to Q. “Q, you came to me all those years ago. You were the one who had me make contact with Sisko, and to make sure it was hidden away. You have interfered on our behalf from the very beginning.”

Q gave Picard a non-committed look. But Odo picked up on it more than Picard did.

“Wait a moment.” Odo said. “Perhaps the Continuum’s hold on this universe would be threatened by what ever force is released by the three Orbs. All we have is his word and the omitted passages of a five thousand year old passage in Bajoran lore.”

Picard gave Q a stern look. Q looked over to Odo.

“You’re very good.” Q said with respect in his voice. “Well done. But I promise you; as bad and manipulative as you think we are? The beings that would be released by bringing those Orbs together will make you beg to have us back.”

Mathew cut in. “All of this is rather interesting, Q. Give me another way to save my niece and I will do it. You could use your fantastic powers and save her instantly.”

“But he can’t.” Picard said. “He would be directly interfering with the outcome.”

Odo shook his head. “We’re all forgetting another wild card in all of this.” Odo said. “The Emissary, Captain Sisko, must know what will happen if the Orb came through. He gave us his blessing to go ahead with our plan. Add to that Jake visited me just a month ago in the Gamma Quadrant. I think Sisko knows a remnant of the Kostt Amojan is still in Jake’s body. The Emissary may be doing this only to save Jake.”

“No.” Picard said flatly. “Benjamin Sisko would not risk the lives of millions and millions to save his son. I am willing to err on Ben’s behalf. I think you should continue with your plan.” Picard decided.

“What?” Q said in surprise. “I brought you back from the dead to stop them from doing this foolish plan, and now you want them to go through with it?”

Picard smiled. “Yes, and the fact it is making you angry makes me happy to no end.”

“You can’t interfere.” Odo added. “You said so yourself.”

Q’s look became serious. “I could blink you so far to the other side of the universe it would make Voyager’s trek home seem like a weekend cruise.”

“Then give them another option.” Picard suggested.

At that moment Mathew cut in. “Actually, Admiral” Mat looked to Q, who was about to protest the use of the term Admiral, but Q waved it off, “I already have another option.”

To which Q responded. “I already know of your little backup plan Mathew, my boy,” Q said with a sneer, “it might not work.”

Mathew glared back at Q. “I am going to save my niece. I will do my best to make sure this Third Orb doesn’t end up in the hands of either Jake or Hol’comb. But I will try to rescue her because it is my fault she is in this ordeal.”

Q snapped his finger and a strange object appeared in his hand.

“What is that?” Picard asked softly.

Q looked to Mathew. “I will make you a deal.” Q said. “If it looks as though you will not be able to carry out your ill begotten plan, you must swear you will open the chest and place this object into the light of the Orb.”

“Why, what will it do?” Picard demanded again.

Q looked to Picard, then back to Mathew. “Many eons ago a disgruntled Organian joined the Q. You humans think they are a peaceful, kind race. Well, think again. Anyway, this Organian is very, well how should I put it; destructive. The Organian created this little toy. It will destroy the Orb, and the other two Orbs, and it will also destroy the wormhole, and everything inside of it, all with one big boom.”

“What about Sisko and the other Prophets?” Odo said in defiance.

Q shook his head. They all knew what that meant.

“I will do as you ask.” Mat agreed. “But if I pull this off, you owe me one.” Mat concluded.

Picard looked to Q. “Can’t you see into the future Q? Don’t you already know how this will end up?”

Q closed his eyes then opened them and smiled. “I can’t tell you what you want to know Jean-:Luc. But it doesn’t matter for you because,” Q snapped his fingers and Picard was gone, “you’re dead.” He looked back to Mat and Odo.

“Where is Picard now?” Odo asked.

Q stood up and smiled. “Wouldn’t you like to know? All you need to know is that he is dead; again.” Q said with a chuckle. Then there was a flash and he was gone as well.

“So what is your back up plan?” Odo asked of Mathew.

Mathew shook his head. “I can’t tell you Odo. I made a promise to keep this part of the plan only to my self. You just have to trust me on this one. It is best you do not know.”

Odo arched an eyebrow. He could only wonder what that meant.

Part 18 (summary episode/new material at the end)

War of The God’s;
Prologue: Summary of where we are!

Mirrors are all over the universe. They can even appear in nature, like the reflection of our faces in water. But mirrors are everywhere. Everyone in the War of the Gods had looked into a mirror, or been reflective, in one way or another. And as we begin the next phase of our story, let us look into the hearts of our characters via; the mirror of our story. Who are the main players, and why??? Let us take their involvement in order.

Koste mojin-
Evil force, Pah-wraith(s), that once took over the physical body of Jake Sisko. It was believe to have been defeated, or flushed out of Jake, but a small remnant remained. It is now determined to destroy the wormhole Prophets, and to usher in a new age. No longer wanting to destroy the wormhole, the Koste Mojin wants the wormhole to act as its throne. The wormhole also acts as a shield against other non-corporal life forms (Q)

Hol’comb-
This too is a renegade Pah-wraith. An apocryphal passage in Bajoran lore tells of the Black Orb Trilogy. In summary, three black Orbs would be sent to the Bajorans, via the wormhole. Hol-comb has been using his outer appearance, that of a Founder, to appear to be a Bajoran. And in the past five thousand years has managed to come in possession of two of the orbs, while becoming quite wealthy and powerful along the way. Hol-comb uses the cover of being an under-world boss (Orion Syndicate) to wealth, and as a way to keep an eye out for the last remaining Orb. What is Hol-comb’s grand scheme?

Once all three Orbs were brought together, a great force would be released, through the wraith inside of Hol-comb. The power, once inside of Hol-comb, would force the unification of the wormhole Prophets with the Koste mogin. The power of the three Orbs was so encompassing, that the wormhole Prophets, or the Koste mojin, could not refuse. Hol-comb was destined to be the unifying force, in essence the ruler, and have total control over the power of the wormhole Prophets and the Koste-mojin. But to do this, the wormhole would have to be destroyed, and the properties that shielded the wormhole from the Q, would be brought into the space time continuum as a weapon against the Q and any other non-corporal beings. The power that came from the unified Orbs would do all this, and bring on, in essence, a real battle of the Gods.

Hol-comb has entered into an alliance with Jake Sisko. Hol-comb is unaware, however, that a remnant of the Koste-mojin dwells in Jake’s body, the result of having been possessed by the Koste-mojin decades earlier. Jake Sisko (Koste-mojiin) is also unaware that Hol-comb is a Founder, posing as a Bajoran, who is possessed by a Pah-wraith as well. It would appear as if fate has brought these two forces of evil together. No so.

Q-
(Yes, Q the misanthrope: The one who has a special relationship with Picard)
Decades earlier, when the last Orb was finally sent to Bajor, Q approached Picard, who then approached the Emissary, the former Starfleet officer, Ben Sisko. Q could not directly interfere, due to interstellar non-corporal rules, but advised Picard of the danger the three Orbs could bring. Picard convinced Sisko to allow the Orb to come out of the wormhole. (Who was sending the Orbs had to remain a universal secret, according to both Sisko and Q). Once the Orb appeared, Picard ordered a then very young Federation scout, Mathew Weer, to hide the Orb where it could never be found, and when it was hidden, Weer was to have his memory erased. He did; well sort of.

But someone else knew Weer would have the ability to retrieve it in the future, if he had to.

The Emissary-
The former Captain of Deep Space Nine. Ever since his fateful “death”, Sisko has remained in the Wormhole as the Emissary. And, due to the effects of a non-linear existence, he became aware, over time, that the Koste-mojin were still in possession of Jake’s body. He could not “live” with that. He also knew, by looking into the future, that the Orb could still be found by Weer. So he decided to have the Dark Trilogy Prophecy play out when he became aware of the Koste mojin’s continued possession of Jake’s body. Sisko knew the existence of the Orb would bring the long dormant wraith out into the open, and the Koste mojin would us it the Orb a tool to destroy the wormhole Prophets. Once the Koste mojin was awakened, Sisko could see to his son’s release, and also see to it that the Dark Trilogy finally found completion.

The Emissary had found a way to save Jake. But the Emissary would also do his best to make sure the evil of the Hol-comb, or the Koste-mojin, would not threaten existence itself. And he was quite aware that the Q would be watching, and observing, all that transpired as well. The Q were just as worried about Hol-comb’s plan of universal conquest as Sisko was. Although they were not allowed to interfere with other non-corporal affairs, Sisko was quite sure the Q would manipulate events to prevent the release of the Dark Trilogy and its power. The Q were like anyone else; they wanted to survive. And with recent Q civil wars not far in the past, the Q were not as powerful as they once were.

The Emissary contacted Jake through a vision. He let it be known, to his now much older son, that his time as Emissary could come to an end if an Orb, the one that Weer had hidden, could be found and given to a man named Hol-comb. That Hol-comb was a special Bajoran religious leader who would know what to do with the Orb.

It was a lie. But it would bring the knowledge of how to find the Orb to Hol-comb. And it was a lie that would fuel Jake, awaken the Koste-mojin inside him, and bring, at last, the Prophecy to fulfillment. The risks were great.

The evil, if it were released, could wipe out the entire universe. But the battle was going to happen; it had always been prophesized. The whole plan hinged on Mathew Weer being able to find the Orb. Sisko gambled that a person like Weer, a loner, a scout, a man who questioned everything, would leave a way ‘out’ if the reason presented itself. Sisko did not know the methods by which Hol-comb would use. But the fuse had been lit.

Jake (Koste Mojin) did indeed approach Hol-comb, a seedy Orion Syndicate member who could find anything, or anyone at a price, about the Orb. Not knowing that Hol-Comb had been waiting over five thousand years for the Orb himself! So Hol-comb would use the knowledge that Jake had given him, the fact that Weer could find the Orb, and set a plan into motion.

Hol-comb had read accounts of the Traditionalists wars. He had come into the knowledge that Mathew Weer was off in the far reaches of the galaxy trying to save the life of another family member (Ginny). Hol-comb had to lure Mathew Weer back from deep space, so as to start the motion in plan.

Hol-comb had also read accounts that the nephew of Mathew Weer, Mitch Weer, was in custody of Earth forces for desertion. Hol-comb, who was also a major Orion crime syndicate player, had the mothers of another Earth-bound prisoner; an Andorian named Sharv, kidnapped, and would only free them if Sharv used Mitch to lure Mathew home. Just incase that plan didn’t work, Hol-comb also had Ramada Weer, niece of Mathew, kidnapped from her home in the Gamma Quadrant, as a further bargain chip.

Being that his existence was based on that of violence, Hol-comb would seduce the woman, Ramada, by shape-shifting into the guise of a beautiful woman, and force himself on her. Eventually Hol-comb would also sexually assault her as a man as well to further quench his need for aggression over others. Hol-comb used entrancing powers to make the girl fall in love with him, but the act of violence would not end, and in fact, was needed to fulfill his existence.

--

Which brings us to the present.

The Bajoran wormhole opened up, and the Tempest sped out of it, and toward DS9. Mathew Weer, and Odo who sat beside him, could only wonder what would become of the next couple days before them.

“This plan of yours better work.” Odo said.

Mathew looked at the readings of interstellar static, for lack of a better word, that were displayed on his monitor. He smiled.

“I assume everything is going as planned?” Odo asked, intrusively?

Mathew looked over to Odo, “What about this Founder? Is there any idea how a Founder became a pawn in all of this?”

Odo shook his head. “Many Founders were sent out into the universe, I among them, programmed to learn all about life, and the universe, and then return that knowledge back to the Great Link. Many were lost. This must be one of the lost changelings.” Odo continued, “before we even think of destroying Hol-comb I want the chance to communicate with the Founder he is in possession of.”

Mathew arched an eyebrow. “Do you think that is wise?”

Odo nodded in agreement with the line of questioning. “My wife Kira asked me that same question when I wanted to make contact with another Founder who had motives that were questionable. Do not worry Mathew, I can do this.”

Mathew nodded in agreement as well. “Very well Odo. I will try my best to give you that chance.”

They shook hands on it.

The Tempest zipped past DS9 and went into warp. The dominoes were starting to fall!!

PLANET KALLA III

Three Galor-class Cardassian vessels came out of warp and came to a stationary orbit above the old mining planet that was located in Pakled space. The planet was designated as the agreed exchange point between Mathew Weer, who would bring the third Orb, and Hol-comb, who would bring Ramada.

A fourth vessel came out of warp and took up a position in the center of the triangle formation of the Cardassian ships. Though the three large Galor ships were of Cardassian design, the ships were actually the property of Hol-comb. They were, in essence, Hol’comb’s security detail. The three protection ships were staffed by multi-species crews, all employed by the Orion Syndicate.

The fourth vessel had a more sleek design. It was a very high priced luxury vessel, with all the modern amenities. Over the course of 5000 years Hol-comb, who had created dummy accounts, and false identifications, had amassed a fortune that allowed a very easy life.

But all of it would be chucked away with the possession of the third Orb. Uniting the three Orbs, two of which he already head, was Hol’comb’s destiny. And using the power they held with-in their chests, Hol-comb would forcibly bring the Koste-mojin, and their Prophet cousins, together. With that done, Hol-comb would claim the planet Bajor as a throne, subjugate the corporal life forms there, and then set sights on the rest of the universe, with the first target being the Q continuum.

Hol-comb was awakened by the signal from the bridge. The bald Deltan captain of the crew, which was comprised of various alien species, informed Hol-comb that they had reached their destination.

“We have arrived at Kalla III.” Captain I’jidnev said, his image was seen on the small the view screen next to Hol-comb’s large bed.

“You have done well Captain I’jidnev,” Hol-comb replied, “scan for any incoming vessels. There should only be one.”

“Very well sir, understood.” I’jidnev replied, and then his image vanished.

Hol-comb, currently in male form, morphed into his female form, and turned to face Ramada. She was on the bed as well. Ramada opened her eyes and smiled. The two women kissed.

“Good morning, my dear.” Hol-comb’s female voice said. “You slept well.”

Ramada, who was still nude, tied spread eagle to the four posts on the bed, smiled in turn. “I love you.” Ramada said in dazed wonderment.

“I know dear, I know.” Hol-comb responded.

Hol-comb really felt sorry for the young woman that would soon have to be killed. She had provided Hol-comb with many nights of aggressive sexual release. Ramada’s body was starting to show the wear and tear of the effects. Only the use of mind-altering drugs kept Ramada unaware of her bruises and other physical harm that had been caused by Hol-comb. But as the earthlings liked to say, Hol-comb mused, all good things had to come to an end.

As Ramada slipped back in to sleep, Hol’comb slid out of bed and morphed back into a male Bajoran appearance. One he was dressed, Hol’comb walked out of the bedroom and into a secure room where he kept the other two Black Orbs.

He marveled at the two chests that contained the Orbs. They had been in Holcomb’s possession for nearly five thousand years.

“Soon,” Hol’comb spoke to the Orbs as if they were alive, “the power from with in the three of both will become my instrument to bring order to the universe.”

At that moment a signal came from the bridge. Hol’comb left the confines of his trophy room and headed to the bridge. Moments later he entered the very elaborate bridge. Various crew members manned the control stations that ringed the control room. Hol’comb had always been fascinated by Starfleet design and so he modeled the bridge as such. One single command chair was in the center of the control room, and was occupied by I’jidnev. The Deltan commander vacated the chair as Hol’comb entered the bridge.

“A ship is approaching the Kalla star system.” I’jidnev reported.

Hol’comb sat into the command chair as the image of the vessel was displayed on the view screen. It was an old style Starfleet Runabout, not the Tempest.

“We’re receiving a hail,” a female voice reported from the communications post. She was a rather attractive Bolian female, named Demoff, Hol’comb noted. Perhaps she would be his next conquest after Ramada was done with.

Hol’comb simply pointed at the Bolian female. Instantly, on the screen, the image of the approaching Runabout was replaced by that of Jake Sisko.

“What are you doing here Mr. Sisko?” Hol’comb demanded.

“I am paying very handsomely for the Orb.” Jake replied. “I thought it was only appropriate that see it through to the end.”

Hol’comb didn’t like unexpected twists, and this was exactly that. Though, it would serve to be a time saver since Hol’comb intended to kill Jake Sisko eventually so as to cover his tracks.

“Very well, Mr. Sisko.” Hol’comb replied. “Please dock your ship inside our hanger. Our friend Mathew Weer will not be expecting anything other than my yacht and my three security vessels.”

“Understood,” Jake replied, “I will do just that.”

Jake Sisko’s image faded from the screen. Hol’comb pivoted his chair to face I’jidnev.

“See to it that Mr. Sisko is escorted to the bridge.” Hol’comb ordered. “If he tries to leave your custody,” Hol’comb continued, “kill him.”

“Very well, sir.” I’jidnev replied.

Everything was going as planned, and that pleased Hol’comb to no end. He felt the urge, due to the unexpected arrival of Jake Sisko, to release tension through some a very physical sexual foreplay with Ramada, but thought better of it. He had to keep his mind on every moment during these next few hours. Everything Hol’comb had planned was coming to a head. Suddenly the Bolian who manned the communications post spoke.

“We are receiving a coded message. It is coming from a contract employee named Rasff.” Demoff stated. Hol’comb found Demoff’s voice ever so arousing.

“I will take it my ready room.” He replied.

Hol’comb knew exactly what it was about. He stood and left the bridge and entered his ready room off to the side of the bridge. He sat behind his desk and the desk mounted view screen came to life.

Hol’comb was in mop up mode. In order to come as far as he did, he had to, at times, sever any loose ends. This was one of those times. He actually took pleasure when these moments came.

One such loose end was Dirk Peasely. Hol’comb had hired the former Admiral to track down and capture the young man, Mitch Weer, who had been a thorn in Dirk Peasely’s side. So when Hol’comb approached him, Peasely was very pleased to be paid to hunt down the man who had betrayed the uniform for nothing more than do-gooder reasons. All of it was a ruse, however, to lure elder Mathew Weer into Hol’comb’s web. Mathew Weer had, in a way, helped mop up the situation by killing Peasely himself after hunting down the former Starfleet admiral in search of his own answers.

And now Hol’comb had to finish the mop up. The view screen on Hol’comb’s desk showed two human females, bound and gagged, on some far off world.. A hooded figure stood behind them, and nodded. Hol’comb took this as his cue that he could be heard. The older female was Peasely’s wife, the younger one was Peasely and his wife’s much younger daughter.

“My name is Hol’comb, Mrs. Peasely,” Hol’comb stated. “I know it is most likely that you have no idea who I am. But, I am sorry to say, I can not take that chance. I take no pleasure; well actually I do, in the killing of innocent people. Just know that this isn’t personal, it’s just business.”

The woman’s eyes became wider as Hol’comb finished speaking. The little girl was crying hysterically. Hol’comb nodded at the hooded figure and then watched as the hooded figure killed the two in a most violent way. Once death was assured, the image faded.

Hol’comb was sad to see the killing ended so quickly. He exited the ready room and entered the bridge. But he could not contain his sexual arousal and headed straight to his private suite. Ramada would have to find the strength to fulfill his need.

PLANET DROANHA in the Embrathi sector of the Gamma Quadrant. It was the planet that the Weer family now called home. The planet had once been called Embrathi prime, but New Dominion allowed the name change in honor of the human settler who had settled on this beautiful world nearly fifty years earlier; A man named Nathan Droanha.

On the planet below;

Aunt Beth had returned to the Weer ranch after the ruckus of the Festival. Many of the families that lived in McCord valley were justifiably scared by the turn of events. The result was just what McCord probably wanted; more families were willing to take up his offer and leave their homes. Aunt Beth couldn’t blame them. At some point, survival trumps material needs. And the local law enforcement was pretty much, Beth concluded, on McCord’s payroll.

But the day was near end, and she had settled in at home to read a nice novel until Ginny, and Lawrence, came home. Beth had gone ahead and let the two younger kids play at the Clement’s home a little while longer. Mitch, and his Andorian friend Sharv, had gone to town for some much needed adult fun. There was a pretty good size bar in the near by town, and Beth was sure they had headed there.

At that moment the door opened and Lawrence came in. He carrying Ginny, who was covered in mud, and she had bruises on her face, arms legs. Beth had Lawrence place his fallen sister on the couch.

“What happened?” Beth demanded as she got out the portable medical kit.

“We were on our way back when these two men on horse back jumped us. One of them held me down as the other tied Ginny’s legs together, then tied them to the back of his horse, and then dragged her through the mud for about ten minutes.” Lawrence said quickly.

“Who did this?” Beth asked.

“They had masks on Aunt Beth, but I’m sure one of them was that Klingon that Mitch almost shot at the Festival today. Where is Mitch? We have to tell him!” Lawrence replied.

Beth knew where that would lead. “No child, you mustn’t tell Mitch how this happened.” Beth said as she used the medical kit to heal some of Ginny’s wounds. “If you do, he will go after them and get himself killed. So, please,” Beth pleaded, “we’ll just tell Mitch you were playing real hard over at your friend’s place.”

“We have to tell him!” Lawrence fired back.

Beth stopped working on Ginny, and put her hands on both of Lawrence’s shoulder. “Listen to me,” Beth said, “if you tell Mitch then things will get worse, and he could get himself killed. Now, nobody wants that to happen. So please you will do as I ask?”

Lawrence bowed his head, “Yes ma’am, I won’t tell my brother Mitch.” Lawrence said, and then he looked up at her. “But I will tell Uncle Mathew.” And with that, Lawrence ran off to his room.

Beth could only watch him run off. She continued to work on Ginny. The bruises would heal. Ginny had silently watched the exchange between Beth and Lawrence.

“I’m okay.” Ginny said softly.

Beth hugged the young girl. “I know child, I know.”

Ginny was sniffling. “I wish Uncle Mathew were here.” Ginny said softly.

“So do I Ginny. So do I.” Beth said in agreement.

KALLA III

Interior mining shaft, last seen in the TNG episode “FIRSTBORN”

Three Transporter beam materialized inside of the interior mining shaft beneath the surface of Kalla III. With-in seconds Jake Sisko, Ramada Weer and Hol’comb were standing in lit cavern.

Kalla III had been a mining colony for the Pakleds for many years. The internal lighting was still working, even after years of non-use.

Ramada, who was very frail, held Hol’comb’s hand as he escorted her to an area of the cave where she could sit. She sat down on the ground, an rested her back against the semi-smooth surface. Jake Sisko walked over to Hol’comb.

“Mathew Weer may not like the condition of his niece.” Jake said to Hol’comb.

“Who cares what he thinks?” Hol’comb replied. “He’ll be dead before this day is through.”

Jake Sisko felt sorry for the young girl. He was indirectly responsible for what had happened to the girl. But while he was tormented inside, there was nothing he could say or do. His body was controlled by the Koste-amojin that dwelled inside of him. He would never have taken such actions to help end his father’s time with the wormhole aliens. But a part of him missed his father very much. Maybe, if he were younger, he would have selfish acts for his father. He wouldn’t have acted liked this now, but he couldn’t control his actions. He would wait for when the Koste-amojin weakened, and then try to reclaim his actions.

But the Koste-amojin could also read his mind, as well as control it. And as Jake watched Hol-comb survey the cave, the Koste-amojin taunted Jake in his mind.

(Koste-amojin. “You plan to try and retake this vessel. I have told you ever since I awoke, this was not possible.”)

Jake Sisko resisted as much as he could. (“I will try. You will weaken eventually and I will try!.”) Jake said in his mind.

Koste-amojin continued. (“Once I destroy the Prophets, you and the Emissary can reunite in what ever reality that lies after this one. You should be happy that I will finally end his existence, and yours.”)

Suddenly there was an electronic chirping noise. Jake watched as Hol’comb tapped a switch near his belt.

“What is it?” Hol-comb spoke out loud.

The voice of I’jidnev came through the communication device. “Sir, another ship approaches the system. It is the Tempest.”

Hol-comb smiled, every thing was going just as he had planned. “Order Weer to your position, and then to bring the Orb of New life down to the cavern. Tell him if he diverts in anyway, his niece will die. He turned to face Jake Sisko.

“Your merchandise should be here any moment.” Hol’comb said with a smile. He knew full well it was all a ruse. He would take the Orb himself, after killing Jake Sisko, Ramada and Mathew Weer. And then Hol’comb would release the force with-in the three Black Orbs, destroy and absorb the energy of the Celestial Temple, and set his sights on the Continuum, and then the universe beyond that.

Jake Sisko knew inside that the Koste-amojin had his own grand plans for the Orbs. He would take the three Orbs, and fine tune the energy to destroy only the Prophets, including the Emissary, that resided in the wormhole. Then the Koste-amojin would set his sights on Bajor, as was prophesized eons ago.

(“Very good,”) Koste-amojin said to Jake in his mind, (“you know the plan exactly.)

(“My father will stop you.”) Jake warned. (“Things never plan never go as easily as we hope.”) Jake added.

(“We shall see!”) Koste-amojin replied.

On board the Tempest

Odo sat inside the small, two person, shuttle that barely fit inside the Tempest’s hold. The Orb of New Life, inside the pitch black chest, was next to him in the passenger’s seat.

“You’re just going to stay here?” Odo asked. “What am I going to do?”

Mathew smiled at Odo. “He is a Founder, remember? This is your chance to sway him over to our side.” Mat said. “Besides, this was how it was arranged. Don’t deviate from the plan Odo. Hol’comb will kill the both of you if you do.”

“What about your niece?” Odo asked. “What should I tell her?”

“Just tell her, to hang on.” Mathew said. “Good luck my old friend.” Mat said to Odo.

“I don’t believe in luck.” Odo said frankly, as he shut the door to the shuttle.

Mathew decompressed the holding bay and watched as the small shuttle dropped out of the Tempest and sped off to the planet below.
--
Odo piloted the small shuttle through the Kalla III’s atmosphere and then into the loading bay of the abandoned mining colony. He landed the craft. A loud swishing noise could be heard as Odo’s ship decompressed. He picked up the Orb, opened up the small entrance to the shuttle, and stepped onto the dirt covered landing pad.

After a short fifteen minute walk he found his way into the mining shaft. Jake Sisko stood on one side of the shaft, Hol’comb stood on the other side, next to a much weakened looking Ramada Weer, who was slouched up against the wall.

“Very good,” Hol’comb said, “you arrived just on time.”

Odo looked over to Jake. “I can’t believe you would betray us Jake.” Odo said, knowing full well that Jake was not in control of his actions. But Odo had to appear as if he knew nothing about the Koste-amojin inside of Jake. “You, of all people,” Odo added.

Jake spoke, “You know how much I miss my father; Odo. He was supposed to come back to us, he never did.” Jake said.

Hol’comb cut in on the conversation. “We can discuss the past later.” Hol’comb said. He pulled out a portable screen and placed it on an old desk that was in the cavern. He pressed a button and Mathew Weer, in the cockpit of the Tempest, came on screen.

“I am ready for the exchange.” Mathew said.

Hol’comb nodded. “Once I confirm this is the Orb of New Life, I will let your niece, and the Founder Odo, go.”

Hol’comb walked over and Odo handed the Orb over to him. Hol’comb took the Orb of New Life and placed it on the desk. He opened the chest and a bright light illuminated his face, and the area around him. Hol’comb could feel the dark energy throbbing inside of the Orb. He closed the chest, and looked down the screen.

“You have done well, Mathew Weer.” Hol’comb said.

Hol’comb then reached down and pressed a switch on the screen.

Above the planet, in stationary orbit, two of the Cardassian vessels pivoted and fired their weapons at the Tempest. The Tempest was unprepared, and after three direct hits, the Tempest exploded.

Hol’comb watched the Tempest’s explosion on the screen. He turned to face the others. His eyes were now pitch black, no pupil, no white of the eye; just two black eyes were what stared at Odo and Jake.

“There has been a change in plans.” Hol’comb said with a sneer. His voice had changed, and became deeper and sinister.

“I don’t think so!” Jake said. Suddenly Jake’s eyes became as red as flame. His voice as replaced by what appeared to be various layers of Jakes voice. “We will proceed with the plan. Hand me the Orb of New life; NOW!”

Odo stood out of the way of the two Pah-wraiths. He squatted down to check on Ramada’s condition. Hol’comb turned to Odo. The face of Hol’comb morphed into the familiar smooth surface of a Founder.

“That one is no longer needed.” Hol’comb said, as he pointed at Ramada.

A tentacle of black energy flew out of Hol’comb’s out stretched right hand and struck Ramada. There was nothing Odo could do but watch. Then Hol’comb re-directed his attention back to Jake.

Odo felt for Ramada’s pulse: she was dead.

WE CONTINUE

Jake raised his left arm, as Hol’comb raised his own right arm. A web of black energy streaked out from Hol’comb’s right hand as a red, concentrated beam, of metaphasic energy burst from Jakes’ left hand.

The two ribbons of energy collided in the center of the cavern. Waves of energy began to rip through the cavern. Odo swooped up Ramada’s dead body and took her into one of the tunnels that led out of the main cavern. The walls in the tunnel seemed to be more fortified. But the cave started to shake as the energy level expanded.

Meanwhile, Jake and Hol’comb were nearly fifty feet a part as their energies converged in the middle of the cavern.

“Give up,” several voices of Jake demanded of Hol’comb.

“Never!” Hol’comb replied with a dark, deep voice, shrouded in anger, “I have waited for eons for this. You will learn to serve me, as will the Prophets. It is my destiny to control the will of this universe!”

Suddenly black energy burst from Hol’combs eyes, striking Jake, and throwing him up against the wall of the cave. Jake (Koste Amojin) fell to the ground, and was motionless. The battle was over, but not the war.

Suddenly Hol’comb’s body fell to the ground as the rest of black energy inside of him burned through his skin. A pool of blood, and charred bones were all that remained of Hol’comb. The energy swept up the Orb of New Life and blasted through the cave walls.

The large spiraling black energy flew through Kalla III’s atmosphere, out into space, and slammed into Hol’comb’s ship. The ship was utterly destroyed, but the two other Orbs remained. They were absorbed into the dark energy ribbons, and the chests they were in suddenly were dissolved. At last, after several thousands of years, the Dark Trilogy were brought together for the first time. Suddenly the tree Orbs expanded and imploded on themselves. Various colors of energy lit up the space all around the planet.

Meanwhile, down in the cave, Odo was surprised to that the portable screen was still working. Odo was able to piggy back a reception signal from one of three Cardassian ships.

“Incredible.” Odo said to himself as he marveled at the expanding waves of energy.

The worst had happened, Odo thought to himself. The Dark Orb energy, now absorbed by the being that was once in Hol’comb, would soon become one, and streak off toward the wormhole, to destroy it, the wormhole aliens (the Prophets) inside of it, and then use the unique properties of the wormhole as a weapon against all other non-corporeal life forms.

Suddenly, something on screen caught Odo’s attention.

Two giant ships, one Romulan, and one Klingon, shimmered out of the blackness of space, directly above the three Cardassian vessels. At that moment Odo felt strange; he was being transported. He looked back in time to see Ramada’s dead body transporting as well.

Odo rematerialized on the transporter pad of the Romulan vessel. Ae Romulan motioned for Odo to follow him.

“Come with us.” The centurions ordered. “My two comrades will tend the female’s body.” The centurion said.

Odo followed his Romulan through the myriad of corridors. They soon entered a large command center, no doubt the bridge of the Romulan vessel. Odo was also shocked to see none other than Mathew Weer standing to the side of the Romulan commander. Odo walked down to the lower level to join Mathew.

“What is going on?” Odo asked, perplexed to see Mathew alive and well.

“I’ll explain later.” Mathew said. “The commander of this vessel is N’vraln,” Mathew said, “this vessel, and the Klingon vessel, as well, have been shadowing us ever since we came into the Alpha Quadrant.” Mathew said.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Odo asked.

“Because both ships are breaking interstellar law by using banned technologies.” Mathew said. “I didn’t want to compromise your position in inter-galactic politics.” Mathew added.

“Cloaking devices are not banned.” Odo said.

“These ones are.” N’vraln said. “Our new cloaking devices are experimental, but allow us to phase into another dimension while keeping our position fixed in ours. I procured another one for the Klingon vessel in exchange for a piece of their technology.”

“And what would that be?” Odo asked.

“Chroniton emitters.” Mathew replied, so N’vraln, who was busy with tactical concerns, could converse with his first officer.

“Chroniton emitters,” Odo repeated, “The can only be really effective against non-corproreal life forms. One of these devices was used to try and destroy the wormhole decades ago.”

Odo looked at the main screen. The cloud of black energy, with streams of colors of energy, was growing in strength.

“It would be one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen if it wasn’t for the manifestation of evil.” Mathew said.

The image of a Klingon suddenly appeared on the other half of the screen.

“Prepare to fire!” K’Vulgh said quickly.

Both of the ships pivoted to face the growing web of energy that was nearing what appeared to be the pinnacle of power. At that moment, the three Cardassian ships converged in formation, and were nearing position to fire on the giant Klingon vessel, which was nearly three times larger than even one of the Cardassian ships.

N’vraln looked to Mathew. “If those Orion-Cardassian ships attack the Klingons, we may not have enough energy to stop the energy wave.”

He looked back at the screen just in time to see three white flashes of energy envelope each of the Cardassian ships; instantly all three Cardassian ships were gone.

“Fire!!!” K’Vulgh ordered.

Instantly the Klingon ship, and the Romulan ship, fired their Chroniton emitters. The beams of energy struck the growing wave of energy that had once been contained in the three Orbs and Hol’comb’s body.

“Full power!!” N’vraln ordered to his crew.

It was all they could do; watch the ships firing their emitters, with volleys of disrupter fire as well. After thirty seconds, it was clear it wasn’t enough. The energy wave was still growing; it had become to powerful for the emitters.

“It isn’t working!” Odo said.

“Give it more time!” Mathew said to N’vraln.

N’vraln looked to his first officer who was shaking his head. “We don’t have enough power!” N’vraln said to Mathew Weer.

“Look!” Odo said to them as he pointed at the screen.

A burst of red energy streaked out from the planet below. It was the Koste’Amojin.

“What the hell?” Mathew Weer said in surprise.

Odo looked to Mathew and N’vraln. “It is the Koste-amojin. They do not want to be forced to join with the Prophets to serve the Dark Trilogy.”

The red energy dove into the wave, avoiding the beams from the emitters. Suddenly the energy web imploded.

“Cease fire! Evasive!” K’Vulgh ordered.

The emitters both ceased firing their beams as the energy wave imploded. Both ships went into warp just as the wave exploded, destroying Kalla III in the process. Moments later both ships regrouped and surveyed the area of space where the explosion had been, but from a safer distance.

“We conclude there was total destruction.” The science office reported to N’vraln.

“And it wouldn’t have happened with out the help of that last remnant of the Koste-amojin” Odo said in disbelief.

N’vraln turned to say something to Mat just in time to see Mat rush out of the bridge. Odo and N’vraln went after him.

Mathew Weer entered the Sickbay. It was the exact same Sickbay that Ginny had been transported in while she was ill months back. The Romulan doctor shook his head as Mat walked over to see his fallen niece. Odo and N’vraln, who came into Sickbay, joined him moments later to offer their words of condolences.

“There was nothing you could do Mat.” N’vraln said. “I’m sorry.”

Mat shook his head. “Perhaps nothing I could do.” Mad concluded. “But definitely not beyond someone else’s ability.” Mat said. He stepped away from Ramada and surveyed the room. “Q!” Mat called out. “I know you’re around here somewhere; show yourself!”

At that moment there was a bright flash, and Q appeared, along with Jean-Luc Picard. But this time, Picard wore a gray style uniform with the pips of an Admiral. Plus he had a tightly cut goatee as well. Picard looked just as he did before his death.

Picard surveyed his surroundings. “Well,” Picard began, “what have I missed.”

N’vraln walked over to Mathew. “I thought Picard was dead.”

“He is.” Odo, Mathew and Q responded in unison.

“I assume we prevailed?” Picard asked.

Odo nodded. “Yes, we did. The Dark Trilogy energy was released.”

Mathew took over. “But thanks to the assistance of friend or two,” Mathew said with a nod toward N’vraln, “and the last minute interference of the Koste-amojin, the Dark Trilogy energy was destroyed.”

“Very good,” Picard said with a smile.”

Q snapped his fingers and Picard was gone; dead again. Q turned to Mathew.

“I will take back that little present from the Organian now.” Q said to Mat.

Mat was about to hand the non-corporeal bomb to Q, but stopped at the last instant. “You owe me one, Q.”

Q gave Mathew a dejected look. “If it wasn’t for the Koste-amojin, you’re little plan would have failed.” Q said. “But a deal is a deal. Do you want me to give you riches beyond compare? Or would you like me to end all universal hunger. Make it quick though, God is a busy man.” Q asked.

Mathew motioned to Ramada’s lifeless corpse. “Oh, I don’t require anything so grand.” Mathew said. “Besides, you might replace universal hunger with some incurable universal disease.”

“You know us so well.” Q said with a smile.

“Just bring my niece back to life. Back to a point right before this all happened.” Mathew told Q. “This happened to her due to galactic concerns she had no knowledge of.”

“Actually,” Q said, “I am going to have to give back two back for the price of one.”

Suddenly there were two flashes. The first flash enveloped Ramada. One moment her body was tattered and torn, next she was back to the regal beauty she once was. The scars to her caused by Hol’comb, both mental and physical, were gone. She saw Mathew and hugged him.

There was another flash and Jake Sisko appeared out of nowhere, along with Benjamin Sisko.

“Dad!” Jake said excitedly as he hugged his father.

“Jake,” Benjamin said to Jake, “I have not completed my task as the Emissary. But I have been given,” he said with a smile, “a two year leave of absence.”

“Awww,” Q said in a coy voice, “two family reunions in one day.” He turned to Odo, “I don’t suppose I could bring back someone special for you? Perhaps that Feringi toad friend of your’?”

“Please;no.” Odo replied softly.

Sisko turned to Q. “Looks like my son, in some way, just saved your precious continuum.”

“Oh please,” Q replied, “it never would have gotten that far.” Q looked at the gathered group one last time, then back to the Siskos. “I’m heading toward Earth. I could drop you off there in about, oh, ten seconds.”

Benjamin nodded in approval. “I’m driving.” He said to Q.

Benjamin and Jake shook hands with Mathew, Odo, N’vraln, they each hugged Ramada. With goodbyes said, Q snapped his fingers and vanished along with the Ben and Jake Sisko.

K’Vulgh came into the Sickbay, having just beamed aboard. He had brought visitor with him; K’ot’FAQ. The younger Klingon male rushed over to Ramada. K’Vulgh and Mathew watched as the two youngsters chatted away about recent events.

N’vraln came over to Mathew. “Mathew, I can take you back to Droanha if you wish.”

Mathew nodded his head. “That would very kind, my old friend.”

“The trip would be much faster on my flagship.” K’Vulgh said with a smirk.

Mat, K’Vulgh and N’vraln engaged in their own small talk as the Romulan vessel, with the Klingon vessel on the portside, headed back toward the Bajoran wormhole, and from there, on to Droahna.

Look for the continuing Weer sagas in the brand new spinoff.

Re: The Weer Family #21

This is the kind of Romulan ship I see as being perfect to be Revok’ta. Maybe more slick looking. But this is the perfect size for a scout ship.
