STAR TREK
The Weer Family
(Our story picks up four months after the events of EXODUS 12.)
Mathew Weer was able to find a cure for young Ginny. Meanwhile, Auth Beth, along with Ramada and Lawrence, found their way to the Omarion Nebula deep in the Gamma Quadrant. Mathew Weer brought Ginny there, reuniting her with her siblings, Lawrence and Ramada.
The land that Mathew had purchased years ago sat on over one hundred and fifty three acres. Although the Weer family supported the Federation in the Civil War against the Traditionalists, they also found the lure of a more simple way of life appealing. Most of the beings who called Droahna home were also those who believed in a more simple way of life.
On this world, things were indeed much simpler. There were no space craft allowed on the planet surface. Transporter use was limited to three major receiving areas on the planet surface. And in the true pioneering spirit, travel on the planet was limited to horse back travel, stream driven trains, and maritime vessels.
The Founders, for their part, allowed a planetary government to maintain order. There was a ruling body that decided on all laws governing the citizens. All commerce was based on the old standard of Gold.
Most if the inhabitants of the Droahna were humans. They were attracted by the simpler ways that the world had become known for. Other aliens also had come to the world, searching for a less materialistic way of life.
Before heading back to Federation Space to deal with Mitch’s predicament, Mathew had hired a contractor to build up the house they Weer’s would now call home. It was modeled after the house they had called home for nearly five hundred years on Earth. It was of South Western design. Mathew and his brother Jonathan, who had been killed during the Civil War, had decided to go back into the simple life of herding horses. Over the twelve years that Droahna had been colonized, horses were plentiful on the planet. They were plentiful, but wild. A living could be made selling these horses to the coming settlers. Part of the land that Mathew bought would be used for that purpose, once he had returned with Mitch.
With the home pretty much settled on Droahna, it was time for Mathew to head back to Earth and secure the release of Mitch. That was easier said than done. With goodbyes said to Auth Beth, Ramada, Ginny and Lawrence, Mathew zipped off in the Tempest. He promised to bring Mitch back home with him. It was a promise that might not come true.
THE WEER FAMILY
MATHEW WEER
He is in his late fifties. For years he was a scout for Starfleet, and even after he retired, he continued in that capacity as a civilian for the Federation. His exploration of space is unequaled. During his travels he has become friends with many other scouts of so called enemies of the Federation. He believes in true frontier justice. He is known to wear dear and bear skin clothing, and even sports a very large buck-knife for all to see. Though he was part of Starfleet, he did not like his service. Many of the older Captains are still his friends, but due to his association with known smugglers and the like, he is seen as an outsider as well.
MITCH WEER
He is now twenty one years old. When the Civil War broke out, Mitch was drafted into service. During the war he saw officers in his outfit do terrible things, including the rape and murder of innocent civilians. Seeing this side of humanity has changed him a great deal. Where he was once just a kid with innocent vigor, he is now emotionally scarred. While his commanding officer was about to rape a young girl, Mitch could only watch as his uncle, Mathew Weer, killed the offending officer. Later, with trumped up charges, Mitch was arrested for desertion and for letting his superior officer to be killed. Mitch now awaits trial back on Earth for these so called ‘crimes’.
RAMADA WEER
Mitch’s oldest sister. She is twenty years old. She is a very beautiful but naïve woman. Her ambition in life is to just be a flirt. She has never been in love, and she is a virgin, but she realizes that her looks can bring her a life of easy gains. She is of a pure heart though. And recently she had a crush on a young Klingon named K’ot’FAQ.
GINNY WEER
Ginny is sixteen years old. Where as Ramada is a real beauty in grace and looks, Ginny is just a tom-boy at heart. She takes after her Uncle Mat. She just wants to be one of the guys! Her life was almost cut short in the past year after being stung by a rare insect. Her life was only saved when Mat took her to a far of Romulan world that practiced primitive forms of medicine.
LAWRENCE WEER
He is Ginny’s twin brother. He is just a young innocent kid. Shows promise of being a writer of some kind. But he is also known to like the simple ways of life that the family wants to return to.
AUTH BETH HAWKINS
The matriarch of the family, Mary Weer, was killed recently. And with the father of the children also killed in the recent path, Mathew sent for Mary’s older sister, Beth, to take over as the mentor to the children. Mathew’s livelihood required him to be away much of the time. The children still needed a magnetic type of person to keep them on the right track. Auth Beth was sterner in her ways that what the kids were used to. But Mathew knew this was the kind of person the children would need in this new future they faced.
The Federation has recently ended a dreadful Civil War. Factions still want to keep fighting on both sides. And now, far from the Federation, the Weer Family must start a new page in their history. One can only hope fate will be kind;
