The Way of The Spores: Review of the first draft of This Side of Paradise

Not even different spellings? BTW, sounds sort of like "coulombe", which means dove or pigeon-keeper. So, in keeping with the "peace" Spock found?

That's quite a different pronunciation -- completely different vowels, and the B is not silent in the French pronunciation.

And as discussed, the character was created as a love interest for Sulu, and hence was given a faux-Asian name that was kept despite changing her to a blonde, white love interest for Spock. It sounds like it theoretically could be Japanese or Hawai'ian, but it isn't as far as I can tell.

The original outline, as noted by many above, has its moments, but I think the final episode is quite excellent. I do like the fact that the spores could be negotiated with rather than just zapped with an annoying sound.

I can’t recall off-hand, but is it plausible that Spock’s original relationship (in whatever form that took) with Leila falls into the SNW timeline?
