Spoilers The Walking Dead - Season 9 discussion and spoilers

After all the ominous scenes of Zombies behaving in new and weird ways, and engaging in strategy and other cognizant behaviors, as well as Eugene theorizing that they are evolving intelligence, it's almost kind of a letdown to know that it's merely a bunch of necrophiliacs leading the pack.

It would have been Z-Nation had they done that.

Answer to the problem? Somebody find a FLiR

The Whisperers will show thermal blooming in the image--the zombies will not.

Yeah, but Z Nation did it differently, with the Talkers retaining their human personality until being overwhelmed by the munchies. The initial implication with the Whisperers was that they were malevolent toward the living-- almost like the Vampires in The Omega Man, but less civilized.

So, with the first episode releasing on AMC Prime a week early (and immediately being pirated) should we expect another massive ratings collapse?

You do realize the show's been renewed for a tenth season, right? So can the doom and gloom about low ratings and potential cancellations until next year.

Well... the ratings now should STILL have an effect on future things..such as the movies allegedly coming about Rick and where he has been for like 8 years (which is insane)… I still think the time jump was dumb. I mean, the end would have been a great coda, but kinda ruins things for Fear & the Rick movie(s).

And can anyone provide a spoiler free mini review of the midseason premiere?

There are plenty of effects that the ratings can have other than cancelation. You know this, so cut the bullshit.

Exactly. crookeddy has been predicting doom for this show for how long? But it still rolls on. I'm sure there's other TV series that are low rated by any measure, yet they never seem to be on the chopping block. Series of that kind deserve the microscope, rather than one that is moving toward a decade on air with ratings other producers would sell their souls to get for their shows.

Literally never.

As usual you misunderstand everything. There is no risk of cancelation unless ratings drop another 75%, but if you think that a show can continue with no changes when viewership falls from 17 million to 4.5 million I'd like some of the crack you're smoking.

Literally never
What seriously? You've been doing it for at least two years now, I first noticed it in the thread for season 2 of The Expanse, in this post which was made exactly two years ago as of next week:
https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/the-expanse-season-2.285612/page-2#post-11918912
Here are the results if one does a search on how man posts you've done with the word ratings, which dates back all the way to 2009:
https://www.trekbbs.com/search/39980897/?q=ratings&o=date&c[user][0]=6500
And the results for every post in which you've used the word cancellation, dating back to 2011:
https://www.trekbbs.com/search/39981108/?q=cancellation&o=date&c[user][0]=6500

I think we can all agree this is substantially more than "literally never."

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? What do any of those threads have to do with Walking Dead doom and gloom?

You should be embarrassed for doing all this work just to look like a fool.

Stop falling back on lies (and flames) when you are exposed. Your constant negative posts in relation to TWD ratings are easy to see on this board, so again, stop falling back on lies.

One just wonders why you are not ringing that bell in threads for shows that land in the category of low ratings...

So, "literally never" means you've never posted doom and gloom about Walking Dead's ratings or predicted its cancellation. How about this post from this very thread back in November:
As we move further away from there great episode, my good feelings about this show are completely gone. I still think it's barreling right toward cancellation.
And looking at those above search results, you've made five predictions of cancellation regarding Walking Dead or Fear the Walking Dead, and you've posted about the rating of both shows 27 times. But I guess when you said "literally never" you must have been speaking figuratively, huh?

The wormhole just revealed that I talk about bad ratings for all shows that have a ratings issue. My negativity towards the walking dead is because of the trend, not the actual number. I'm well aware that it's still very high. I can see how my post referenced above can be seen, but I meant that it's on a trajectory towards cancellation. I was probably wrong - no matter what the rantings are at this point, the show will be given a final season instead of abrupt cancellation.

On the other hand, fear is still pretty much in trouble.

Danai Gurira to Exit

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Gurira, who officially joined the series in season three as iconic katana-wielding badass Michonne, has signed a deal to return for her final season of the zombie drama.

Under her new deal, Gurira will return in a limited capacity — described as only a handful of episodes — that will be interspersed throughout season 10. The actress, playwright and social activist will then likely segue to the three Walking Dead movies that AMC is planning with former leading man Andrew Lincoln.

I guess by the time season 12 comes around the biggest stars on the show will be Darryl and Rick's old cop hat.

Jason

Hey, its a scheme that the new, "Star Wars in Objects Only" uses, as the only thing familiar in the sequels series are the lightsabers... ;)

One of the problems that all these actor forced deaths show, is that in-universe Rick was an awful leader who got everyone killed...
