The Vulcan - Episode 4: A Pon Too Farr

Are you a fan of Roy Clark?
A big fan. That guy had talent with the banjo, the fiddle, the guitar, and I don't know how many more instruments. He's way better than just good with them.
Here he is playing Malaguena. Amazing.

quite good with most except the banjo. My fingers are way too big for banjo picks and you really can't get that signature bluegrass picking style without them.
Here's Béla Fleck and his wife Abigail Washburn. Note Abigail uses the Clawhammer or Frailing technique vs Béla's Scrugs' three finger picking. She, along with many frailers, uses the back of her middle finger nail, or a single reversed banjo pick. No need to struggle with picks. A good frailer sounds just as bluegrassy as any picker.

A bit of a wash with the trumpet...

I work with a fine banjoist - Bob Sander. I doubt I'll ever bother much with the instrument. It's been a few years since I've done a program with my harp. My primary solo program is 12-Songs for the 12-String Guitar (which is up to about 16 songs - mostly prog-rock.)

Naxx plays the recat-pukk, a traditional Coridanite instrument that looks like the ocarina or sweet potato

, but it has metal reeds and a button control that makes it sound more like a harmonica. Instead of holes like the ocarina, it has valves to direct air over the reeds.

Most intelligent species include music in their primary and secondary education, relating it to math, science, and social studies, as well as having found it psychologically beneficial to cognitive development. Most of the Vulcan's crew can play something and know music theory.
