The Voice USA: Season 2

He has a point. Those backstage checkins and twitter updates add nothing to the show. Cut down some of the pomp and fluff and frippery and actually let them sing more. There have been several songs this year that were clearly shortened for the performance and I imagine it is one of the limitations on their song choices that it fit into some 2 minute window or whatever. Personally I only watch the performances and the judging, the rest gets skipped over. They could cut the show by half an hour and I would be happier for it.

I don't hate it. I think it has a lot going for it over Idol and it has definitely benefited this year by giving the coaches more votes over America, which saves us from Pip.

I also don't understand why they feel the need to rehash the same points over and over. For example, yes Jamar is HIV positive, but that shouldn't define him. But Carson reminds us of it every week, even after they replay every single clip since Day One each week.

What Chris Mann needs to understand is that there is more outside of opera. Imagine that strong of a voice in another genre. Once he can build on that, he becomes a legitimate favorite. Lindsay really wowed me with her first performance (don't remember what song, but had the creepy masked people in it) but it seems like she's gone downhill since then.

Chessa is growing on me now that she has decided to stop singing hip hop and actually throwing that strength into powerful songs.

There is really a disconnect between the front runners and the rest, but it should be an interesting finale.

Also, the girlfriend brought up a good point: Tony Luca has this in the bag in Justin Timberlake is rallying his fans behind him. He's a good singer, but that's not fair.

My favorites are Juliet Simms, Katrina Parker, and Lindsey Pavao. Tony Lucca and Jermaine Paul are also enjoyable.

Juliet is my absolute favorite, though. I would much rather listen to her version of "Roxanne" than the original.

So the finals were predictable with the exception of Juliet.

I have had an epiphany about Tony Luca. He is there where the backing of the Mouseketeers. There is nothing "wow" about his performance.

Juliet is bland. Rock needs women, but women with talent.

Jermaine will take this season.

My rankings based on personal preference (not who I think will win):

1. Juliet Simms
2. Chris Mann
3. Jermaine Paul
4. Tony Lucca

Jermaine Paul and Tony Lucca are mostly boring to me, though Jermaine can stand out when he makes the right song choices. I don't really get what anyone, judges or audience, sees in Tony Lucca. He just doesn't have that much talent and doesn't have an interesting personality to compensate for it. I forget he is on the show sometimes.

The only thing I was surprised by last night was Chris Mann making it through instead of Lindsey Pavao. I liked Lindsey at first, then didn't like her, and then with Monday's performance I thought she did well again. I actually do really like Chris and hoped he would make it through, but I didn't think he had a chance. I thought people mostly viewed him as one of those novelty acts that you just keep on the show because he's "different," not an actual final contender. But I'm not complaining, I enjoy his voice very much and am glad to hear more from him.

I wasn't surprised by Juliet making it through, after I saw online how well her music was doing on iTunes, but I was surprised by the margin she won with. Especially since Jamar was the one America voted through last week. It looks like they've changed their minds. Again, no complaints here, Juliet was definitely my favorite.

As for who I think will win it all, I really think that Juliet will. Not just because I like her best and want her to win, but because looking at the other three finalists, they don't stand out quite as much as she does. Well, Chris Mann does, but I don't see him winning against Juliet. I think Jermaine Paul stands the best shot of beating her, and I would be surprised and disappointed if Tony Lucca won.

Tonight on The Voice! What song can Juliet Simms butcher tonight! Crazy is a classic song and a personal favorite, like Roxanne, and she stunk at both of them.

I wasn't a fan of Juliet's first two songs (Crazy and the duet), but she made up for it (in my eyes) with the last song. She'll still get my votes, but I think she might have blown her chances at winning before that last song came around (partly due to the song choices and partly due to her being under-the-weather).

I'm betting Jermaine will pull off the win. Though, Tony Lucca did amazingly well tonight and could pull off an upset.

By the way:

Juliet Simms + Roxanne = Pure Awesome ;)

As long as it's not Chris Mann...

Also: could Christina just ONE TIME compliment Tony Lucca? Did he do something to her on the Mousketeers? Did he poop in her corn flakes or something? She just does not like him for SOME reason.

"99 Problems" was a totally inappropriate song choice, but Christina's criticism was way over the top. She probably came up with that line about being "derogatory towards women" before she even heard the performance. I guarantee those two hooked up on MMC and he fucked her over in some way.

I agree with Diagnostic. How many people remember Christina writhing around scantily clad in the sand in the "Genie In a Bottle" video or in lingerie showing off almost everything in "Moulin Rouge." It's incredibly hypocritical for her to criticize "99 Problems" as derogatory when she has set feminism back years in her videos. He was pandering to a younger male generation with his song choice, like she does when she shows her body off like a prostitute.

Juliet next to a record-selling artist (I have no idea who he is) just shows, to me, why she shouldn't win this competition. She has absolutely no stage presence. I know the show is "The Voice" but in the long run, her career is doomed because she is boring (and, in my opinion, can't sing).

I'm hoping for Juliette or Jermaine to win. Yeah, I like Juliette. A solid rocker. Don't care much for the "makeovers" they've given her though.

Did you ever see her video for her song Dirty?

She has some problem with Tony. I don't care who wins, just as long as Chris Mann is dead last.

Results are in!

Winner:
Jermaine Paul
2nd: Juliet Simms
3rd: Tony Lucca
4th: Chris Mann

Funny how Hall and Oates got away with singing about bitches tonight... I wonder if Christina lectured them about "Rich Girl" being derogatory towards women?

Also, it was great to see Jordis Unga again, though if I wasn't already a fan of hers from Rockstar: INXS, I doubt I'd even remember she was on this show.

I was thinking the same thing.

I'm not surprised by the outcome, but a little disappointed that Juliet didn't win. Jermaine wasn't memorable to me (in fact, the night before the finale I was talking to a friend about the show and telling her about the final four, and I completely left out Jermaine Paul until someone else reminded me). He's got a nice voice but just such a boring style and presence. Juliet, however, I would definitely buy a record from her.

I'm glad it's over though, this show was eating up my Monday and Tuesday nights!
