The Valkyrie

Thanks guys!

Here's a little taste of what is to come :)

There we go! That's a sexy ship! I'd really love to see some renderings of this ship in your Fire and Ice pieces. Nicely done!

The design is wonderful and the artwork is impressively accomplished. And actually, I thought the bigger nacelles had a nicer line flow and balance, though the new ones don't detract from it.

To be honest, I think it would make a fine "NCC 1701-F" if that vessel ever appeared officially in Trek. It'll be nice to see alternate views of this vessel.

Here's a quick sketch of some preliminary orthos. Keep in mind these were done with only vague attention to detail especially on the ventral side.

I'm not sure I like the "sideways" nature of the nacelles, but it could just be an angle thing. Otherwise it looks really neat.

^I think it looks fine as it is. Also, I think what you have flagged as photon torpedo launchers are actually RCS thrusters.

I havnt flagged anything, the RCS thrusters can go elsewhere and anywhere, I have always liked the design of the alternate USS Voyager in the episode 'living witness' where Voyager had those huge raised torpedo launchers / phaser cannons on the saucer section, I was suggesting somthing similar. :)

Yeah, it must be an angle thing. The inboard side of the nacelles are straight and in line with the centerline of the ship, while the outer edge curves inwards towards the rear. Think of them as flattened and cut in half Sovereign nacelles.

Love the ship Flux but I 'personally' would do this to it. ;)

But heck! what would I know.

I'm one for following Jefferies' rule of keeping things on a starship hull flush. Any phaser emitters or torpedo tubes will be designed as such, so you probably won't even know where they are unless they're called out in a schematic. I also think the impulse engines are *huge* enough. They actually probably seem larger than they really are, as you'll see once I've completed an aft configuration schematic.

Would be better if the impulse engines are wear u say but are built into the hull flush so they are there but from the angle given they are not visible

It should only have one impuse engine.

On the dorsal spine of the ship halfway between the bridge and shuttlebay.

I honestly have no idea what you mean. The engines are built into the hull and flush. They aren't visible from that angle because of that fact.

And its "where" :p

Why?

On the dorsal spine of the ship halfway between the bridge and shuttlebay.

This isn't a Galaxy-class ship. The Sovereign, for example, has it's impulse engines in the same place. So does the Valkyrie.

Just thought with such a cool looking post DS9 style ship that something 'extra' on the saucer or hull would look good which was why i suggested the torpedo launchers. The sovereign class altered its torpedo launcher style from previous designs so was just suggesting that a follow up design from a 24th century sovereign would perhaps also have different weapons systems.
Also just to throw my opinion in, I prefered the bigger nacelles, thought it made it look bigger and and more kick arse, the smaller nacelles reminds me of a small weak Nova Class ship, which was also why I suggested lengthening the saucer section. Another suggestion I have is to change the aft shuttle bay into an impulse engine and reposition the shuttle bay along the side of the main hull just behind the main bridge.

Your design is absolutely brilliant so dont take my suggestions the wrong way, just giving my 'personal' opinion. ;)

Naw naw naw, It's totally great looking as is! But I'd love to see a picture of it in it's final colored and shaded version that isn't an animated GIF. It looks so pretty but we only get to see it for a second at a time! Maybe with a space background...
