The USFL is back? Why?

It is a league that is getting harder and harder to take seriously.

People with a gambling problem love it though.

They can't sell it as a minor league system because you know what the NFL minor league is called? The NCAA! They make a big deal about the players who get a shot at NFL training camps (even though most get cut), but if we're being honest, those players would've been invited anyway even without spring football.

The only player I can think of where it worked out as a second chance league is Younghoe Koo. Chargers make a scapegoat out of him and cut him during his rookie season, he plays a few games in the AAF, now he's a top kicker for the Falcons.

That was some of the most dreadful defense after the two minute warning I think I have seen in a long time.

Like they had already went to half.

Turned the UFL game on and the head coach is ripping on the QB for the previous play.

Also saw a player score and hand the football to a fan in the stands. Can they really afford to be doing that?

Early UFL game, Arlington is in FG range to tie it with seconds remaining, they try to get a few more yards with a sideline pass and the DC defender jumps the play for the INT. Broadcasters think the QB doing a fake spike gave the defender too much time to figure out what was happening.

I made it about two minutes into the Michigan/Birmingham game (started near the end of the 3rd quarter) before they broke out gambling Barbie and I checked out.

You know, that's exactly what the Professional Squash Association needs to take their league to the next level, a gambling expert during their broadcasts.

The UFL game on Fox had to be moved to cable because of how long the Indy 500 went. No one noticed.

Memorial Day.

I just don’t think there’s room for Spring professional football. Additions to leagues already playing in the Spring and the growth of MLS just makes it too crowded for football that is multiple tiers below the quality of the other sports.

Someone did an inventory check of spring football players. From the AAF, XFL, USFL and UFL, there are two top kickers and one All-Pro return specialist in the NFL, then a bunch of interchangeable fringe players who don't last very long.

Why the WLAF and NFL Europe didn’t survive as a minor league. Very little bang for the buck. Especially when they already have a free minor league system with college football.
