The fact that chemical reactions can occur in mid-transport is stupid anyway, why isn't a person's brain and other neural tissue corroded by their own stomach acid every time they go through a transporter?

What happens if you transport acidic and alkaline substances at the same time?

Even by Star Trek standards, it's "Threshold" level of science, right there.

Kirk was split down the middle, and Riker again. This is a variation on an established theme. Somethign similar happened in Jetrel, after they used a weapon similar to transportor principles to uncombine a population.

In some early hellblazer comics, these three burly right c*&ts had been magically amalgamated into a single being. John noticed that all three of them had tattoo's establishing that they all supported different football clubs. Upon mentioning this important point to the newly collaborated triman... They beat the s^&t out of themself.

Unless they were planning to fire Ethan and Tim, there was no way Tuvix would be allowed to continue existence. I can argue for or against Janeway's actions, so I'm satisfied in that we have some fun philosophical questions to ponder.

Yes, but Tuvix could have shrugged and said 'Okay, whatever', or a magic technobabble device could have saved all three and Tuvix would be written off by being given a shuttle... and a million other cop-out solutions. Artistically, I'm glad the episode went this route. I don't agree with it but it leaves a good, if strictly esoteric, ethical question.
