The unofficial Rock Band thread.

I took a listen to the Abbey Road songs that aren't already in the game, and they don't seem that interesting to me except for one song.

And that's a day one purchase. Damn you Harmonix! Why do you have to be so awesome?

Because someone has to be the opposite of Neversoft?

Hopefully, Lego Rock Band will be better than Guitar Hero: Warrant, Guitar Hero: Jonas Brothers, Guitar Hero: Avril Lavigne and Kenny G Hero.

Besides, it has some fun new gameplay elements:

LEGO-themed rock challenges: Play killer riffs to destroy a giant robot, summon a storm, and demolish a skyscraper using the power of rock! Xbox.com In the new challenge mode you rock with a purpose. In the level we played, Breakout by the Foo Fighters set the mood for a building implosion. As we successfully jammed, we started to bring the house down. Literally. The characters would react to the destruction, dodging out of the way of falling beams so as not to crush their precious hands. When a specific instrument didn’t have any notes to play (such as the instrumental segue where David Grohl doesn’t have any lines) there segment drops out visually as well, giving you more room to view the destructive action. This mode doesn’t change the gameplay at all, but it’s a neat diversion. Link

Nice to see some more Nirvana, but how many Foo Fighters songs are there on RB now? 20-something? They should've just released it on a disc like AC/DC so people could complain about it on the Internet...

Guitar Hero? Guitar Hero? Srsly? We don't take kindly to Guitar Hero 'round these parts.

But seriously, that just sounds like a bunch of crap nobody has ever heard of. I remember An Endless Sporadic from previous GH iterations, and Impulse in GH3 was a lot of fun to play, so that might be interesting. But I preferred the GH3 free stuff which was all stuff I somewhat knew, Dropkick Murhpies, Top Gun Theme, Halo Theme, etc...

Well, The Touch was a freebee.

Anyway, the Lego Rock Band export is based on the RB1 technology, so it's a disc rip for anyone curious about it.

Rock Band 2, game only, is currently on sale for $20 at Best Buy for PS2, PS3, 360 and Wii. Seems to be selling out fast.

Well, i wont buy any GH DLC either, since HMX charts songs better, but it is a free trackpack, so i will probably get it...
And overall the GH guitars seem to be better then the RB ones...
I still use the GH3 Les Paul...

Aaah, Activision...

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/21395/No-Doubt-Suing-Activision-Over-Band-Hero-Appearance/
On the heels of the game's release, Band Hero's publisher Activision once again finds themselves in hot water as members of one of the bands featured in the game has filed a lawsuit against the company.

TMZ.com has reported that the band No Doubt, lead by singer Gwen Stefani, has filed a suit in L.A. County Superior Court claiming that Activision has "transformed No Doubt band members into a virtual karaoke circus act."

According the the lawsuit, the band agreed to allow their digital likenesses to appear in the game as they performed three of their own songs. However, the band has stated that Activision ended up having them "sing, dance and perform over sixty songs."

Beyond that, Gwen Stefani is upset that one of those sixty songs includes the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman," which contains lyrics referring to "having sex with prostitutes." This isn't particularly something that Gwen wants herself to be associated with, even if it's only in digital form.

Based on the suit filed, No Doubt is seeking an injunction that prohibits "the unauthorized use of the No Doubt's name and likeness' in the game" as well as "an undetermined amount of damages."

Stay tuned as we continue to follow the events surrounding the case as they unfold.
