I saw this tweet which showed Vincent Price (who in my alternative universe head canon would have been the Master had they kept the Cushing movies going into the 1970s) as Oscar Wilde. Anyone else get McGann Doctor vibes from him?

I imagine there must have been some difficulty with securing the rights to the old Dalek voice recording used here, though it's hard to believe that what they ended up with was the best they could do to recreate the Dalek voice. I know even broad audio effects like that can be deceptively difficult to recreate, though.
"Swinging on a Star" is probably also a more apropos choice since it's more of a "space" story than a "time" story, though I can make the argument that it's a little too whimsical when the scene is introducing the Doctor as being classy to the extreme.

Honestly that whole opening scene is a total mess! A whole bunch of lore thrown at the viewer. It assumes you know who the Doctor and the Master are, what the planet Skaro is, etc. And the worst thing is the way it totally ruins the Tardis introduction!

I have a lot of affection for the movie, but it’s really a blueprint for how not to introduce Doctor Who to a new audience. RTD was clearly taking notes, because he gets it so right in Rose.

Its exactly why it doesn't work. The movie should've been rewritten from Grace's perspective. Its why I think the TV Movie totally works as a triple episode stitched together following a lost story of the Seventh Doctor capturing and bringing the Master to trial - but, on its own two legs, to a total novice, it fails.
At least the Master opening doesn't confusingly start with the voice of one Doctor before showing a completely different guy as the same character.

US cut - uncensored, fade outs for ad breaks, "based on the BBC TV series' caption.
UK 'uncensored' cut - fade outs trimmed, no 'based on...' caption. The cut that's been available on DVD.
UK broadcast cut - as above, but with Pertwee caption at the start. The whole shooting scene is heavily trimmed (it was aired right after a school shooting in Scotland). McCoy's agony and screams on the operating table are also cut down. Chang Lee's neck breaking is edited.

I like the idea of rewriting the movie from Grace's POV. I feel like there was a lot of potential in Grace, and I'm not saying that because of a long-standing crush on Daphne Ashbrook. Rather, she's a thirtysometing professional woman, at the top of her game, and her dynamic with the Doctor is fascinating. At the end of the film, when she says, "No, you stay with me," I want the Doctor to stay because the idea of the Doctor in Grace's world is actually appealing to me. That kind of set-up makes more sense to me than Grace in the Doctor's world.
