The TrekBBS 'new music' thread

I've enjoyed reading all the active music threads here and learned a lot, even finding some undiscovered gems. But I wonder if most of us music fans are aspic-like set in our ways (I admit am guilty as anyone else) so thought would start thread to introduce contemporary tracks we might not otherwise be exposed to. Only criterion is must be current (not more than two-three months old).

First choice probably is controversial but as have been clubbing recently this has developed into an insidious earworm...

All other (serious) entries welcome :)

I heard this song a few weeks ago on The Vampire Diaries and love it...it is a Bon Iver cover...done by some 14 yo girl called Birdy.

Birdy "Skinny Love"

thanks, Jetfire. Not really my usual style, but enjoyed it and impressive for 14 yr old :bolian:

'Bass Down Low' is amazing. Such a good new clubbing song.

'Skinny Love'... I like it, but it's a bit slow for me to really love it.

Gonna do two. The first one also has Dev & the Cataracs on it. Something tells me this song would be helpful for Rebecca Black:

Anyway, it's a brilliant hip-hop/party banger.

The other one is some brilliant Scandipop that I've recently discovered:

Video single just came out for this at the end of the first week of May. I LOVE these guys - who I got into sort of indirectly through discussions that have taken place in the TrekBBS vs. The Music thread over the past 5 months. As a result of that thread ( w/special props to Jetfire), I started experimenting with a lot with newer bands that I might have heard in passing, but never really gave much consideration to. And have become a fan of about 8 - 10 bands that I like to various degrees, Avenged Sevenfold being my favorite of all by a long margin. I am totally hooked on these guys...and this is a very touching video for anyone who watches it, knowing the backstory re the death of their drummer. :( This song is not really typical of their music...but then, one of the reasons I love them is because they work in several genres quite effectively, and are extremely talented songwriters and musicians.

Well, this is older than two or three months, but the first time I heard of this lady was yesterday.
