The top 35 moments in Star Trek history

These lists stop at going ALL OUT controversial, such as:

Top 5 TOS Episodes

5) Spock's Brain
4) Man Trap
3) And the Children Shall Lead
2) Assignment Earth
1) Alternative Factor

So they balance it out and say

5) Alternative Factor
4) Balance of Terror
3) Spock's Brain
2) Space Seed
1) City on the Edge of Forever

Or some such variation.

It's a balance: status quo ranking, i.e. City on the Edge/Balance of Terror/etc. in the top 10. Mixed in with controversial choices, like consensus worst episodes Spock's Brain, included in the top 10 to get readers to go, "WTF??? Hey, everybody! Look what this guy said!"

I haven't clicked on this article in this thread. I just don't want to see you guys fall into the getting-pissed-off trap that this is designed to be.

I think I'm being generous when I say there are possibly 8 great moments in this list.
Uhuras bitching with Kirk about her boyfriend is a 'greater moment' than Spock finding Kirk alive after thinking he'd kill him in 'Amok Time' ???
Where's the double facepalm?

Correct.

It's the same as what I said about the Playboy article guy. This author has just the same (lack) of credibility.

Perhaps, but at least that list seems to come from someone who knows his trek (like I expect a fan would), even though he may have made some very different choices. This list seems just plain ... weird.

Yeah, but most lists like this you can't expect to agree 100% but you usually agree with parts of the list. Generally, everybody can find some of their favorites somewhere near the top. They usually catch most of the most obvious choices. This list seems to just grab a bunch of random arbitrary moments throughout the series.

If any one of you made your own list of best ST moments, I wouldn't agree with the list, but I'd find far less to object to than with this one.

That's what I meant, too. You've managed to express it much better.

Most Influential People to Star Trek

5) Gene Roddenberry
4) JJ Abrams
3) Harve Bennett
2) Leonard Nimoy
1) Rick Berman

Things like Roddenberry getting the approval to make the first pilot should be on the list.
