When did this series become known principally as The Original Series. I seem to recall that back in the 90s, the term Classic Trek was more prevalent.
Odd.
What I recall is that some people who didn't LIKE the "TOS" abbreviation tried to get everyone to accept "Classic Trek" as the term to use.
To a great extent, they failed.
Wasn't it pretty much "officially" adopted with the publication of the first Chronology?
by analogy with "Classic Coke" (which was itself a nickname).
I just call it Star Trek. I refer to all of the other series by their subtitles.
Just calling it "Star Trek" leaves open which part of the franchise you're talking about. Especially now with a movie that's apparently going to take that title for itself.
"TOS" will HAVE to be used to clarify!
