The Time of the Angels mini clip from BBCA(mild spoilers)

Thanks for posting the link. I saw this Saturday and was waiting to see it again.

"It's not supposed to make that noise....YOU leave the brakes on"

That's fantastic!

I love how we've returned to the fact that the Doctor isn't very good at flying the TARDIS, and he may not even fully know how to work all the finer controls. Reminds me of a lot of older Who where someone like Romana would actually know how the damned thing worked.

The idea that the Doctor is flying around through time and space with the parking brake on...priceless.

Gah, not a good way to (re)introduce me to the character (I only vaguely remember the first part of the two-parter River originally featured in) and she comes off here just as smug as I've heard others make her out to be. I hope there's more to her than this.

Frankly, that sucks to me.

I've always associated That Sound with engines of mighty power, shifting a machine through time and space while keeping it smaller on the outside.

That just makes him sound like my mad old lady neighbour who DOES drive down the road with her handbrake on.

With the exception of "The Eleventh Hour," the season so far is making the Doctor look down right incompetent. I'm not encouraged that a random clip form the next episode continues this trend.

Incompetent, or absent minded and eccentric? Wasn't the Doctor really always considered the latter?

I thought it was funny and very in character with the Doctor, any incarnation. After all, it's always been very clear the Doctor has trouble flying the TARDIS. In fact, didn't he tell Martha he failed the piloting exam? Therefore it makes sense he gets things wrong, like leaving the brake on.

Meanwhile, could everyone lighten up? It's a fucking joke, and you're all worried over continuity and canon implications? Of course, the idea of continuity and canon in Doctor Who is wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey anyway...

Oh, I love her! And the "couple" byplay between her and Eleven is wonderful.

I can wait six days before fretting over the TARDIS noise - I'm confident that it won't be going anywhere, anyway. ;)

My only issue with this is that every other TARDIS we've seen in the classic series makes the same noise... so either the Master and the Rani are as hopeless at piloting as the Doctor is, or...

Still, River gets this information about the TARDIS at some point in the Doctor's personal future. Assuming it comes from him (now that HE knows about it), then she's just calling it "leaving the handbrake on" because that's how he'd describe it to HER based on what she tells HIM in this episode... much like the Time Crash scenario where Ten only knew what to do because he remembered watching himself do it from being Five... thus the "handbrake" explanation may not actually be correct, just a meme that's passed into a stable time-loop...

She put her high heels on the tv's bottom bar. Sure make yourself at home.

I wonder if she'll name drop any more future adventures

"Crash of the Byzantium" is already off the list.
