Wow. Nobody here's talking about this movie anymore.

Whatever. I wanted a review thread so I'm posting one, even if mine's the only post in it!

I just saw The Three Stooges. Here's my gut reactions:

-Those of you who grew up with the original: No, your childhood has not been raped! The movie nails the material! The three actors portraying the stooges (Chris Diamantopolous, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso) had their parts down cold, and the entire production is like a tribute to over the top slapstick comedy!

-Sofia Vergara! (NgungNgungNgung!)

-Larry David as a nun!

-Kate Upton as a nun!

-Jane Lynch...well, you get the idea...

-The cast of Jersey Shore makes the most satisfying cameo in movie history...for those of us who HATE the cast of Jersey Shore!

-Of course, there's kind of a schmaltzy plot to the thing, but that's easily ignored amid all the bonks, eyepokes and gratuitous cleavage.

Overall, a very satisfied A+!

I was very opposed to this movie at first, but we saw a preview of it and it looked just ok to me, but my nine year old thought it was the funniest thing he had seen, so I suspect we'll be going to see it at some point.
Besides, Larry David as a nun? How awesome is that?

I'll be interested to see what people think. I'm not opposed to this one philosophically but I just haven't found myself laughing at the previews like I have with the original Stooges. For now, I think I'd be better served watching Disorder in the Court and the like again.

Kate Upton as a nun!

Officials at America's Catholic League have lashed out at the brains behind new movie comedy remake The Three Stooges for putting supermodel Kate Upton in a barely-there bikini for a racy scene.

A racy scene which isn't even in the fricking movie! Her actual appearance in the swimsuit lasts about two seconds and you only see it from a distance. You see it more in the trailer, and at this point it should be common knowledge that trailers are rarely perfect representations of the films they promote. In this case, that's a good thing. The best stuff is saved for the big screen.

I'm actually disappointed we don't see more of Upton based on what's said on the above post. I imagine we'll need to wait for the Blu-ray.

Still, I'm looking forward to seeing this when time permits. I've been a Stooges fan for years and I think they cast perfectly based on the trailer. Will Sasso in particular is the perfect Curly. Seeing the film raise controversy just adds to its appeal, in my opinion.

Did they need to do this? Not really. And I wish people would stop calling it a remake or reimagining. It wasn't a TV series in that sense but a trio of comedians who worked together. It's more an homage.

Does anyone know if the film acknowledges Shemp, Joe Besser or Curly-Joe DeRita?

I'm opposed to this philosophically......and every other way.

The trailers did absolutely nothing for me except reinforce my dislike for the concept. The scenes seemed so forced.

But, I'm a uber-huge Stooge fan. I have the remastered "190", plus every available movie with the Stooges in it, plus the surviving MGM shorts, plus posters & memorabilia...you get the idea.

Some things should be left alone. Everybody's got something they feel shouldn't be messed with.

pretty much agree with you. huge Stooge fan and this film just seems terrible. i may check it on once its on dvd but i dunno. if everyone seems to enjoy it then maybe i'm missing out on something.

The trailers for this had me laughing like I did as a kid at the original Stooges. I don't object to it philosophically or in any other way.

It's expected now to take in 17 million this weekend - against a thirty million dollar budget, this movie was a modest gamble that will clearly pay off.

It looks fun just looking at the trailers. I think the originals guys would be happy to see their work brought back to like to life and success in this new century rather than just collecting the dust of nostalgia.

I'm not a 3 Stooges fan, and I definitely wasn't planning on seeing this in theater, but I had to take my nephews to see it, and I actually enjoyed it  It was funny in a crass way!

I went along with the husband to see it, as he's a huge Stooges fan and I watched it myself many moons ago.

It was hilarious. We did nothing but laugh.

The only flaw is the service announcement at the end warning kids not to hit each others with sledgehammers and regular hammers, nor to poke others in the eyes. That made us roll our eyes; the moviemakers underestimate today's kids.

Go see the movie!

No. If you wanted to see them represented you'll be disappointed. This is strictly a Moe Howard-Curly Howard-Larry Fine homage, and from what I read in interviews that's the way the Farrellys wanted it.

As counter evidence I present to you pretty much half of the videos found on YouTube.

I am hoping to see the movie this week.
