The movie based on the award-winning novel "The Three Body Problem" has just finished filming earlier this month, after five months of hard work in the snow-crested Lesser Xing'an Mountains in northeast China. Written by Chinese author Liu Cixin, the novel is the first Chinese sci-fi work to win the Hugo Award for Best Novel last Sunday. The award is considered a breakthrough for Chinese sci-fi literature.

I am really intrigued by a film version of this novel--I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Three Body Problem (although I do need to finish the sequel soon).

It's good the Chinese are taking a Crack at it first.

The sequel is also planned as a movie.

They must mean 2017. Looks interesting, though.
Pretty sure they mean 2016. They wrapped up filming in September 2015 and post production was to last almost a year.

I can't imagine this not being the best or one of the top SF movis of the year.

The novel popped up on Obama's summer reading list a few months ago.

I'm pretty sure that's the first time a sitting President has ever plugged one of Tor's books!

And, yes, there was much rejoicing at the Flatiron Building, I'm told.

I've had the book over a year and just read it recently. I noticed it was popping up all over like in Zuckerberg's book club(and the book's English translator chimed in on his FB post). I was surprised to find out that they've been working on a movie adaptation and that Western artists and a large scale FX company are working on it, but I really shouldn't be...the novel has been out in China for over a decade.

Oh, okay. Maybe it's an older clip. The narrator makes it sound like they just finished filming, and then they talk about a year in post-production.

Wow, I really loved the book & its sequel. I had no idea that there was a movie in the works. I hope that they do it justice.
