The Tholian Web is just one of those stories that keeps you thinking for the next fifty or so years! Wonder why aliens such as The Tholians and The Gorns never did return to the series?

Because they were more difficult and expensive to do than humans with a lump of latex on their foreheads.
True but the original Klingons were better than the turtle heads we get nowadays and they were miles cheaper to realise!

All in all, this was maybe the best episode of the third season. The inter-dimensional link was described thusly by Spock:
"We exist in a universe which co-exists with a multitude of others in the same physical space. At certain brief periods of time, an area of their space overlaps an area of ours*" Given this explanation, seems to me that the Defiant and Kirk were moving between multiple universes, not just back and forth between two.
The question that always intrigued me is, why didn't the Defiant reappear later in the story during the events when Kirk reappeared? And, I suppose, someone watching "In a Mirror, Darkly" might ask, 'Why didn't Kirk show up on the Defiant in the MU?
Perhaps Kirk somehow became detached or perhaps better put, untethered from the Defiant after it vanished from our POV space. If so, just as our Enterprise crew was able to grab Kirk during an event when he reappeared, the Tholians were able to grab the Defiant (minus Kirk) when it appeared in that other universe

...and with the original Klingons we didn't need subtitles or the Universal Translator to understand what the hell they were saying.
Wonder why they got rid of their black tops and golden fizzy pants so they could emulate a type of space age conquistador look too? Considering that ENT had them in that outfit before they went TOS style too!
