Spoilers The thing in bay 12

Question for a member who has no interest in watching this, and only looked up things to see what was happening and watch cool shots: Geordi said the Enterprise D was the only ship not connected like all other Starfleet vessels were, leaving it uninfected. So … what about other shops in the museum? Like Voyager. Like the Defiant (which was made to battle the Borg, for goodness sake). Aren't those, also, you know, not infected?
He said it was the only fully functional / operational ship not connected.

Meaning that at best the other ships in the museum are not fully functional in any number of things..IE The E-A probably doesn't have antimatter onboard, same as the others..they're not fueled and armed any longer, etc.

Those may not have been spaceworthy at that point (I'm sure Defiant and even maybe 1701-A could be made ready) and would have needed more time to get more systems powered up, make sure they were working properly, remove any museum partitions that keep civilians away from things, etc.

But he did have his own office in 2-6 and spent a ton of time on the bridge lol
But (like Crusher) when on the Bridge, he was standing. And as for claiming McCoy had an office (if 2-6 is S2 Ep. 6) - they didn't show a CMO office in TOS S2 The Doomsday Machine.:wtf:;)

Oh, good gravy. I think they meant movies 2-6! I understand, I was trying to think what the numbers meant, too!

That just raises more question: Why is the Enterprise D still fueled and the others not?

Geordi or Worf said drones were loading torpedoes, so why can't other be loaded at the same time? Would newer ships (like Voyager and Defiant), power up more quickly?

That was just ... wow.

The Enterprise-D isn't wholly the Enterprise-D. It's the stardrive from the USS Syracuse, its entirely possible that Geordi was in the process of restoring the Enterprise for display and simply had not reached the deactivation process

I wondered about the logistics of running the Enterprise, a huge Galaxy Class starship, with just 7 people.

Hopefully, Geordi's drones (which I guess would be like the drones we see in Discovery) are better at keeping the systems running in an emergency than Scotty's automation station did in Search for Spock when it BSOD during the battle with the Klingons.

Who do you think Geordi contracted while he was off duty to update the automation?

After the fanwank explosion over the resurrected Enterprise-D, I am now certain Strange New Worlds will end with the exact TOS Enterprise bridge and classic Enterprise look (despite one having to ignore "The Cage" and "Ephraim and Dot" for it to make ANY sense in-universe. Picard has also changed "refit" to mean "entirely different ship" so whatever)

Yup. TOS Enterprise incoming and there is no stopping it now. The vocal minority of fans have spoken *pounds gavel*

It's 134 years since the M-5 (TOS S2 The Ultimate Computer); so I'm sure they have worked out the bugs and have an autonomous AI that can run a 1000+ crew Starship with just 7 people... ;)

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

All of the people who said it didn't matter that they changed anything shouldn't care if it's changed to look like TOS or whatever since their position was that it didn't matter, right? If a giant window viewscreen and holograms didn't matter, then the TOS aesthetic shouldn't matter if it's what the creative team decides to go with and feels is right for them.

They're not the Enterprise.

SNW isn't made by the same people as this season.

Indeed. The people matter not the color of the stupid carpet.
