Has anyone managed to buy a copy of "Doctor Who:The Tardis Handbook" yet? I think it's by Steve Tribe but not sure entirely. Chapters hasn't gotten them in yet for some reason.

That's probably because it's not out yet. Release date as I understand it is today (May 25) in the US. For some reason Amazon Canada had a May 4 date listed, but the site says the book hadn't been released yet as of this morning. Also, I rarely find Chapters or Indigo (Canadian equivalent of Barnes & Noble/Waldenbooks for anyone curious) bring in Doctor Who books on day-of. There's usually a lag of months with regards to the BBC Books novels, for example.

^ Yep it's annoying as hell too. I saw the first Canadian release date on the website as being for April 22 but I thought and was confirmed that was an error. Then the second listing was indeed May 4 as you mentioned. So it comes out today? I'll be curious if we get any in then...probably not for weeks or a couple months.
There's always Amazon. Also, bookdepository.ca is pretty good as well.
I will give credit to Chapters and Indigo, however, for the fact they're now carrying the BBC Audiobooks releases, like the made-for-audio Torchwood and DW stories and even a couple of novelisations readings. They've also started carrying select Big Finish titles, but nothing related to DW yet, just Stargate and Highlander audio stories. But it's a start. They're more expensive than Amazon or Book Depository, generally speaking, but I made a point of buying a few from them anyway, by way of hopefully encouraging them to stock more.

I sent off for a copy on Saturday, and it turned up today. Amazon are pretty damned fast when it comes to delivery.
From initial browsing through it, it looks a good read, full colour throughout the whole book. I'll be able to say more when I read it properly.

So has anyone who got the book had a chance to read it yet? I would love a description and review of it? My Chapters still hasn't got any copies in yet and won't for the foreseeable future.
It's quite a lovely little book. Aimed at younger readers, I'd say, but not written down - and suitable for new fans too. It's not exclusively about the new series, but details everything we've ever learned about the Tardis, the Time Lords and the mechanics of time travel since the series began. So for new fans, it would certainly be good to show how the mythology has developed over the years. Glossy pages and lots of pictures. Rather well researched too, though Tribe makes an error on page 48 - though he's repeating a common fan misconception.

This is great, I didn't know they were coming out with a new book. I had the old TARDIS handbook many years ago and it might be in a box somewhere. I'll have to pick it up.
There are none. It's a pocket-sized book about the Tardis and time travel in general. There are a number of colour photos of the new Tardis interior, including close up shots of each panel of the control console.
^ That blows...in the description for the book it says there are floor plans and such. I guess that was just referring to the pics. I still might pick this up...maybe. Thanks for the review though.
Oh, hang on. There are some of the designers' sketches, plans and pre-vis models, etc. but they're quite small pictures illustrating the text about the design of the control room set.
That's a shame. I assumed that it was a bigger sized book like the Star Wars visual dictionaries. I'm actually upset that it's such a small book. I would have loved a visual dictionary type of book that compared all the different consoles and outside appearances.
