The talented Sir Patrick Stewart

"You just committed an act of utter barbarity. WELL DONE!"

Sir Patrick Stewart also shined without having any dialogue - or anyone else on the set with him, for that matter. For example, with "Inner Light" when Picard's alone, with the flute in hand, and he just stands there for a moment, like he's remembering and then brings it to his chest. That whole sequence, with him alone there, must've lasted for at least 5 minutes, but Stewart's in command of the audience, the whole time. Just very interesting to watch, the choices he makes in going for the core of a scene. Again, he doesn't even need any dialogue to capture an audience and keep them there ...

What, the very end after Riker leaves him in his quarters? One minute, if that.

I must confess to not having seen "Inner Light" for a while, but regardless of how long the scene is, the point was that Sir Patrick Stewart was/is an outstanding performer, who clearly had a wealth of experience on the stage. And you see it in scenes like this.

An outstanding actor, no question.

But my opinion of him has been sullied a little over the years by both his attitude (he's said some pretty harsh and hurtful things about Trek, even though it's the show that made him famous and very wealthy), and the revelations about his personal life.

I guess that's Hollywood for you, it corrupts the best of them...
