The Summer of...

1982. That was my favorite MOVIE Summer. ET, Star Trek Khan, Blade Runner, Poltergiest, Rocky III, Porky's, Officer and a Gentleman, Rambo (First blood) all came out...and wow...taking my date to see Toostie at the drive'n theatre and, well, not really watching Tootsie!!! Still a great movie..

I would eventually see Tootsie, and really liked it. Bill Murray gives the best line of the movie; "You...slut."

Great summer/year for movie..what was your summer movie year to remember above all others?

Rob

1994 was my year. Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, The Lion King. So much good stuff came out that year and I remember it being an awesome summer too.

Probably either 1995 or 1996 - my friend and I would go to the cinema on a very regular basis during those years.

Did you ever sneak into other showings...I have to admit that we did. We'd plan it out in advanced. Avoiding detection was always the thrill, more so than the movies, half the time...

Nah, we were too honest for that. :p

Actually, I'd probably also include 1997 there too. In fact that whole mid-90s period of popcorn flicks and guilty pleasures and Mission: Impossible. :bolian:

In my defense, it was my girl friend's idea, to sneak in. And where ever her Dolphinshorts covered ass was going..I was going..especially in the dark.

I don't know about the dates, but 1986 produced a lot of good movies.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home -- the best star trek film.
The Golden Child -- aka ZR
Flight of the Navigator -- the best film ever.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off -- how to skive school in style.
Police Academy 3 -- classic comedy; part 4+ we're forgettable.
Short Circuit -- iz alive, and wants input.

The Fly -- I didn't like the film, but it is memorable.
Aliens -- I didn't like this either, but it's memorable.
Crocodile Dundee -- so-so, but memorable.

The Golden Child -- aka ZR

[chokes on Spag-Bol™]

Yes, I also loved 1986, but I wasn't allowed to go to the cinema on my own that year - I had to wait until those films were on TV (and often usually heavily edited :guffaw:) before I could see them.

And Police Academy 3 was my favourite of the PA sequels too. :bolian:

Believe it or not, I saw TOOTSIE, THE VERDICT, and STILL OF THE NIGHT in one day. And, yes, I paid for all three tickets!

82 was good and so was '81. Raider of the Lost Ark, Clash of the Titans, Stripes, American Werewolf in London, Arthur, Dragonslayer, Escape from New York and Heavy Metal But 79-82 were all great years because of the group of friends I hung with. We were a tight group who hit the movies at least once a week year round. Drama outside of the theater too as couples hooked up and broke up. ;) I was the only guy to have the same girlfriend the whole time.
