Did it flop? Haven’t heard much from the movie

167 million worldwide, which in Covid times wouldn't be utterly awful, but given that it needed around 400 million to make it's costs back flop isn't an unrealistic label.

Should have listened to me and put Superman in it. :)

It was also released on HBO Max... so not sure how that was supposed to help (they were doing that streaming experiment in 2021)

55M domestic isn’t too hot but it was early on the pandemic recovery and had an HBOMAX same day streaming working against it.

I think the premature spin-off is a recent phenomenon. I’m trying to think of other examples but only the Netflix Army of the Dead comes immediately to mind. Though with this show, it seemed like it would've always been a bit niche in appeal in my mind.

Peacemaker was going to happen regardless of how The Suicide Squad performed because it was greenlit almost a year before that movie was scheduled to be released.

Based on what we saw in the trailers so far, Peacemaker was probably a relatively cheap show to make. And it makes both James Gunn and John Cena happy, so it might be worth HBO Max's while.

I watched this a few days ago. It was entertaining, but I honestly didn't think it was any better than the first Suicide Squad. Also, and I am not usually offended by this, it was vulgar just for the sake of being vulgar. Nothing was added to the story by the language that was used and the graphic violence was just there to be graphic. It turned me off.

I agree with you... I guess this is WB trying to prove that they are "adult" and consider Marvel "kiddie stuff"....but not really expanding the fanbase.
