The Straleb Ship in "The Outrageous Okona"

WAMTNG

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Hey folks,
Been very busy with my consultancy work, but have been slowly making progress in my research for the season two WAMs, which will start before the end of the year (although I'm still editing the WAMs for the second half of season one... much to do!). However, this week I've been looking at "The Outrageous Okona" and I'm very curious about the model in the foreground of this shot, the Straleb vessel:

I know it was built for this episode and based upon a Rick Sternbach sketch, but beyond that I have nothing. Is this a kitbash working from pieces of other models? If not, where did the pieces come from...? Surely they didn't cast every piece as a custom design! And how big is the miniature? I can't even establish if this came from the internal production team or was outsourced to one of the usual model-building workshops!

I know y'all have deep pockets when it comes to this stuff, so please share any goods you might have on this dinky little spaceship.

Thanks in advance!

This should help:
Thanks, although sadly I'd already been to Ex Astris Scientia (my first port of call for this sort of thing!). They don't seem to know who built it, and I cannot find it in any of my other resources (although some of my reference books are 3,000 miles away right now, alas...).

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Greg Jein probably built the model, since Sternbach designed it. So it wouldn’t have been used from another production like the Batris or the Promellian battlecruiser was.

Love that you can draw this inference! :D I'm going to bake that into the WAM and give you a thanks for it. Very nice piece of reasoning!
