I am also curious if the magazine is published in any other languages and for any other countries? Germany, France, China, Japan?
However, just to forestall any further requests on this line, we can't cover unofficial, unlicensed books - no matter who they're by. This is one of those "not open to debate" points - you'll note that William Shatner's latest tome doesn't get a review or a cover image in the very Kirk-centric issue currently on sale.

It's probably a legal requirement that's part of Titan's contract to do this magazine in the first place.Since this is the case does that also mean that we cannot expect any coverage of Star Trek related fan films etc? Why does it have to be "official" only?
This is a common meme, but I've never seen any evidence to back it up. I think the (with luck) millions of people who will see J.J. Abrams's film will have a much more significant impact on keeping the franchise alive than the couple thousand who download the fan films. My guess is that since anything that is non licensed and/or unofficial CBS/Paramount doesn't make any royalties or anything from them and so they won't allow any mention of them in any of "their" publications.
The sad thing is that even indirectly the sales of many unofficial or non licensed books and even things like fan films are still helping to put money in their pockets by keeping the fans interested and keeping the franchise alive.

And if you could back up that "millions" claim with something more than "I thought," it might seem significant to the rest of us.This is a common meme, but I've never seen any evidence to back it up. Couple "thousands"? I thought New Voyages had downloads in the "millions"? That seems significant to me!

Since this is the case does that also mean that we cannot expect any coverage of Star Trek related fan films etc? Why does it have to be "official" only? I would think that if it was Trek related it should be fair game. Trek fan films and even fanzines in the past, have done a lot to keep Trek alive. You wouldn't even have a magazine to publish if it wasn't for the fans. I would think that reporting on all aspects of the world of Star Trek would be fair game.

The magazine has certainly covered several of the ST fan films, IIRC. So, too, did "Star Trek Communicator" cover "Starship Exeter".
But they are "not for profit".
startrekfiero's book is non-licensed and is intended to make profit for a publisher which does not hold the ST licence, hence a licensed ST mag can't cover it.
Bantam Books, when it had the ST licence, covered fanzines in "Star Trek Lives!"

Did you just know that these people had been granted the licences or was there anything else that you just didn't have room for?
startrekfiero, your post I was referring to did discuss the goings on about the magazine in PR, but you couldn't help adding in plugging your book and doing a signing. I think we all know by now that you have a book out and will do the book signing tours and the rest of the publicist's stuff. I just feel it's too much plugging, especially when similar posts pop up in half a dozen threads. But you're right, I'm being overly fuddy about it, so I'll drop it.
Paul, I was thinking about the Tyco r-c ships, Fortune Fashion t-shirts, Dreamlink's USB accessories, IGPC's stamps and anywhere who does uniforms. Did you just know that these people had been granted the licences or was there anything else that you just didn't have room for?
