Can't add much more to this myself that others haven't already expressed, but y'all definitely should support this one, considering how scarce actual hardcopy Trek reference books have become in recent years. Great news.

According to the Okudas on Facebook, the reboot movie entries won't be an appendix but will be integrated into the book, "just like any other legitimate alternate timeline"

That's fantastic! I'd rather have it integrated than in an appendix. I wonder whether they'll have updated ship schematics? Ex Astris Scientia corrected the faulty ones from the Encyclopedia but Memory Beta is only allowed to use licensed material, i.e. incorrect schematics.

As Okuda said, they're treating it just like every other established alternate timeline in Trek. I don't recall if the old Encyclopedia had a separate section for alternate timelines, but the Chronology did. It's not about "dues" or anything like that; it's simply logical to put an alternate reality in a distinct section.

As Mike Okuda replied to the same question on Facebook they been working on this for over a year and are not even done yet. The are probably not ready to even think about another book yet.

I am very excited about this! I bought the original book and the 1999 updated edition. Plus both editions of the chronology. I have probably read these books more than anything I own.

Looking at the 1999 Edition last night I am surprised they only waited two years after the second one. The new additions were added to the back of the book and not integrated in the main body of the book. The whole of DS9's last season was not even covered in detail.

So to have all 5 series added in detail to the main body of the book is a huge improvement. As a fan of Enterprise I am very excited to see its inclusion. It added major details to the core mythology. We knew almost nothing about Andorians before that series.

At first I thought why because of memory alpha. Then I was thinking how great it would be to have a physical copy of the encyclopedia and thought this was great news. I'm hoping they might release it on iTunes or Amazon as a digital copy (for the iPad and such) but if not I probably will get this.

Great news! Although being the pessimist that I am, I'm hoping they don't scrimp on such things as the BoBW ships, the class names for the DS9 kitbashes and the classes of the Abramsverse ships. Even if Okuda just pulled names out of his ass that'd be better than the info in the slapped-together DS9 Tech manual.

Fantastic!!! Trek seems really fully back with this release.

I wouldn't go that far. At $99, it definitely isn't a mainstream item.

Still being a year away, it's tough to determine what the discount will be.
