I guess I'm in the minority in regards to the uncut version of the novel. I enjoyed it thoroughly from beginning to end. Granted I never read it in the original publication form.

As for the 1994 mini-series, I was disappointed that it was a bit on the cheesy side, especially considering some of the brilliant casting choices (Gary Sinise, Ray Walston, Bill Fagerbakke, Ruby Dee, Laura San Giacomo, Matt Frewer).

I would be up for an HBO TV series.

Funny thing is I thought the majority of people preferred the uncut version.

I think the show could use a whole season just showing the disease spreading. It's supposed to kill 99% of the Earth's human population so that's a big story there.
Randall Flagg's arrival would be the season cliffhanger. Well, maybe not an a great cliffhanger, but I mean he'd be The Big Thing to end the season with.

I'm a huge King fan but The Stand is overrated, I feel. It's good, don't get me wrong, but the ending is atrocious.

Well the Survivors show seem to be the current show in this area (minus the paranormal elements of the Stand). I only found out about this show recently and will try to get a hold of season one to see how it is.

As far as The Stand goes, I do love the 1994 mini-series and even have the entire thing videotaped from the original airing.

Pilot was pretty good....
